You know my head isn't quite right when I read your Meat Boy comments and come up with... nuttin'...
I'm getting more and more scared of Sega picking up Atlus. They fit an area where Sega doesn't typically offer much. Sega RPGs are basically what Phantasy Star, Shining Force, and and kind of Valkyria Chronicles. At first I didn't think it'd be a big deal but the more and more I thought about it Valkyria Chronicles is the exact reason why it would be a disaster.
If you've played it, most people would agree that VC could have been something Atlus put out. Very Japanese/anime aesthetics and kind of hard to quite put a genre label on. And maybe more importantly, saleswise it's like an Atlus game. You know they do well, but not great (outside of the Persona titles which are mosters). Where is VC today? Worse than retired... it's a mobile card game. Got a bad feeling that outside of the big titles like Persona, Atlus titles will be sent to the phone or maybe the closet.
Yup. This is my third playthough of TR.

Actually, I smashed my head pretty hard today and might have given myself a slight concussion. Logic tells me, after the events of two years ago, I should head straight for the doctors, but I'm stupidly playing the wait and see game right now instead. Wheee!
Jumping up and down in anticipation for tomorrow? I remember I could barely contain myself the night before OoT came out.
I don't know about any nutting. I guess it's bound to happen after the meat beating.
Unfortunately, I think this is a very real outcome for most of the companies who could pick them up....even the bigger ones like Nintendo.
Yeah I have a feeling Sega isn't just being mentioned as just another one of the bidders. I think they're a very serious contender. Like I said, they fill a gap in the line-up of games that Sega offers, and from a corporate standpoint that must seem very appealing. And it looks like the bidding has gone higher than expected. That'll scare away a lot of other companies like Nintendo (notoriously cheap) and Sony (notoriously in debt). Really wish I knew who some of the other bidders are, but then again I suppose it really doesn't matter what any of us know.
SEGA is broke as well, though their parent company is not, so that's an option. I also forgot the more likely buyers -- all those foreign social/ mobile companies like tencent etc... that we westerners forget about.
That's what I do as well. so far it.s.turned. out.. um... well you've heard me podcast. so.. I bang my head good about once a week (sometimes more, like last week).
Wow. Good on you man. I considered playing it again (rare for me).
I'm considering another playthrough. It's such a fun game.
I'm replaying TR on "hardcore mode" which is Hard difficulty but no optional skill or weapon upgrades. It's a lot more challenging!
^That had to be unlocked, didn't it?
The more it's like RE4 the better. They even did the chainsaw beheading.
I sometimes think I should blog about some of these characters that come into the store. Interesting shit.
Nope. I unintentionally played through half the game in hardcore mode on my very first playthough.
It wasn't selectable for me.
There was just easy, medium and hard. I thought you accidentally didn't realise you could upgrade the weapons?
(Or is hardcore just what hard is called?)
No, it's not a selectable mode. Hardcore mode is just a made up name for not doing any optional upgrades while playing on Hard difficulty. It's just a fun way to make the game more challenging.
Okay, well it sounds like it should have been selectable.
Go to the doctor now!
do it.
Again, my advice is to put it off and be a man about it. Doctor's are for women problems and kids. Men ignore their health, and for the most part it works out fine. I once lacerated my hand and cleaned it up, strapped it with duct tape for a week. And look at me now, I'm doing great. Master of my destiny.
