Yeahhhh Blackhawks win ! Moving into the final 4 again!!!!
Nice congrats!
Heat moving on tomorrow.
Lebron was unreal the other night.
And when someone adds a VR headset to their console by default next gen, everybody will moan about the price and how they don't want it, forcing it to be dropped half a year down the road. And that will be the end of it.
Keep in mind Windows 8.1. Backpedaling is now what MS is best at.
Well, good for them.
I was playing Links on my XB1 this weekend. Still a great game. I wish EA had not killed XSN.
And the Kinect had NO tail. After the initial 12 million in the first month it died fast.
That's when I go to the bank to get a loan.
#1 I am amazed by how often people don't know words I use all the time.
#2 Anyone but me remember this?
1. as in real words, or gibberish you make up on your half of the planet?
2. no
Well, kamikaze isn't an English word. But I'd expect Australians to know what Damo is...
Kinect-less X1 could be given additional processing power
This is no different from the 3DS/2DS situation. games that aren't built with the kinect in mind could technically use the additional power regardless of the fact if there is a Kinect sitting idle or not.
I also wonder if the 3Gigs of RAM Sony reserves for their OS include a partition for their upcoming Morpheus VR headset. 3Gig always seemed like a lot to me.
Nintendo are re-animating its corpse with multiple games this E3.
True LOL.
So the full scale of Sonys' losses have become clearer. Not only did this post a whopping $1.25 billion overall loss - the gaming division made it a 4th straight year of losses too, despite PS4. And they're predicting next years results will lose them another $487million. There will be 5000 job losses. Also they are splitting the company again on a small scale to section off the mobile sector:
http://www.twst.com/update/59521-sony-corporation-announcement-of-company-split-small-scale-company-split-of-sony-corporation-into-sony-mobile-communications-inc
Another interesting thing to note, it cost them $60 million to scrap old MMOs.
Reading gamers reactions has been interesting: "Wow. I thought for sure they would at least break even with all the sold PS4s." actual quote.
I truly believe that most gamers/media were in this oblivious haze of PS4-drug fuelled euphoria. With the notion that somehow if PS4 would make everything better. Well, it's not just PS4 in the gaming division, Vita sales are flatlining and PS3 is dying quick too. Overall, gaming hardware sales are declining for them. Things should look better next year for the gaming division, but the company as a whole still predicts losing half a billion dollars in next years report.
#2 Faceball 2000 for the GameBoy...
So on the notion of USPs, in business I was taught anyway, that your product should have a unique selling point. But as this writer above says, sometimes your USP becomes a burden instead - like Kinect or Wii U gamepad. So regarding home consoles what is your opinion on USPs? Should consoles always play the straight man? Should the only USP be what excusive games it gets?
If all hardware is broadly uniform then why even have exclusive software? Seems like it would benefit the consumer to have a single platform then. While the big 3 are struggling to make money it's 3rd parties like Activision and EA who seem to be profiting because they don't have the same costs as console makers.
1. I'm pretty sure half of words Australians use is just made up gibberish, but it sounds good so no one ever questions it.
2. Oh wow Faceball. If I remember correctly that was pushed pretty hard as a big multiplatform game. I remember the SNES version and the comic books I was reading at the time had ads for it for many months in a row. Guess that was a swing and a miss.
So at least they're not branching too far out. It'll still be something more or less related to videogames.
With this new information, my best bet is that they will add a form of parental authorization to their consoles that will allow parents to insert subliminal messages into the games their kids play. Innocent things like "eat more vegetables", "do the lawn", "kill your mother" or "go play outside". Thus they can improve and enlighten the lives of gamers as well as those of their parents.
They want to turn everything into a videogame, so an electric toothbrush that turns toothbrushing into a competition. That would sort the kids out.
Kinect-less X1 could be given additional processing power
You'd think that with all the power of the cloud behind them, nobody would bother with a measily 10% of the Xbone's power.
