What's going on here? Am I noticing a trend or is it just in my head? We used to only have a big argument maybe once a year, twice max and then everyone was friends anyway at the end of it all.
Now it just seems like there are mini-conflicts all over the place.
I have to cite Skylock, because he was the most level headed poster I know, his theory and my theory is that conflict usually arises because we don't explain ourselves properly, which leads to mis-interpretation, which leads to arguments.
It's weird when someone takes what you say and replies "Yeah but..." and then says the same thing you meant anyway. So we were in agreement all the time right? :) Pointless arguments.
I think also, that sometimes we have to accept that people have WTF opinions and even if they are mind boggling and they hate a critically lauded game, you have to shrug it off. Sure if it's a semi-famous public figure i.e well known games journalist or celeb, that's fine to rag on them. But when it comes to arguing with otherwise reasonable people here? People are different and you should accept that, at least for the sake of peace and quiet.
So whenever things get heated, just remember one thing:
Aspro can't finish a Mario or Sonic game.
Yeah that is what happens to me occasionally. Someone will make a counterpoint to something I've said, and I completely agree with them. So I tell them I agree with them, and then they assume I'm misunderstanding them since they disagree with me and .... then I give up and go away for a few days.
Forums are imperfect forms of communication. There are no "non-verbal" cues to go off, no interruptions, no immediate clarifications. So please consider this before you get into it with someone. Maybe your very first post should be, "Are you saying that ...?" Keep in mind also that a lot of the people you are interacting with may not speak english as their primary language.
I've cut myself off from society by choice, and this is the last place I come into contact with people, and after I read some posts I wonder if it is worth it at all.

Yeah sometimes I start thinking, if were in a room discussing this face to face, no way would it turn out so heated. It seems like you're laughing or angry or whatever but in reality it would just be a shrug.
