Each week on GG weekly begins what have you been playing this week. Well, lately I have not played anything, but that's all right. I do not need to play each and everyday. Last week was busy with work and reading the excellent manga 'Full Metal Alchemist'.
Work was really interesting this week. I needed to pick a crane to lift 4.4 metric tons 185 meters straight up. That was an interesting challenge, picking up 4.4 tons is easy, getting it 185 meters high, not so much. Had some transports with trucks and SPMT's and finally the most awesome assignment yet.
Tatataaaaaaaaaa
What you see in the picture above is the new Juventus stadium. The new stadium will be opened the 2011/2012 season and it will have a capacity of 40,200 spectators. And Mammoet got the assignment for raising the roof.
The roof will be raised by a complicated system of strand jacks. Strand jacks are apparatus that pulls rope through them. Basically we will use this pulling to lift the roof upwards, like a very sophisticated rope and pulley system, but without a pulley.
Of course this strand jacks and strands (a.k.a. the rope) need to be installed on various places at various height. This is where I come in. These things will be installed with cranes. I picked the crane and crane configuration together with the crane team leader.
Pretty awesome, huh?
Edit:
We are over budget, we won't be using that lift plan. I won't be lifting the old lady's roof after al. Oh well, was fun while it lasted.
Okay guys, I finished the liftplan drawing and was waiting for the team leader to sign the documents.
Then the team leader came and his news was bad. We are over budget, we won't be using that crane. We won't be using any crane. So basically all the work I did was for nothing. It was fun work, so I don't care much, but this still leaves the question, how the hell will they install all those strands and strandjacks?
Oh well, not my problem any more.
Steelattackold lady will be annoyed.Of course our budget is $0 so you'd be doing it for free.
Vecchia signora, mascalzone.
