Contact may have been one of the more disappointing games I've played. It was made by developers I respect and put out by publishers I trust. It was promoted as having one of those quirky stories taht I typically enjoy. But the game itself was just a chore to play. Ultimately I gave up on it because it was too damned dull.

he i believe that after putting a few hours into it i can  say its different and it really feels like a grasshopper game but its also one of the few rpgs they made  the auto combat is really lacking but at least its not the worst rpg i have ever played

LOL I've also been eyeing up Nier for a purchase. Seen a copy at my local Walmart for $30. I may pick that up.

Leo (and Archie if you ever get it), let me know what you think after you've spent time with it.  Not that I don't trust Homer, but the game overall got average reviews so I would like some second opinions.

I finished it, but it got tough toward the end. Usually with a game like that -- one that is trying so hard to do something different -- I'll stick it out.  But yeah, it got pretty bad toward the end.

You guys really aren't measuring up in this thread.  Pick up the slack!

Now me, for example, here's some fun with gift cards:

Trauma Team
19.99 new

Retro Game Challenge
9.99 new

Lock's Quest
4.99 used

Rygar Wii
4.99 new

I should now be set for about the next decade

---

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

You paid $4.99 for Rygar? You totally overpaid. ANything more than free is too much. In fact, I would have insisted on getting $1.25 just to take it off their hands.

Oh, Nier.

To be honest, I was never interested in that game. It wasn't because it was a bad game. I can't really say that since I never played it. And it wasn't the average reviews that turned me off.

It was just the concept of the game that was bizarre. And that it's a Cavia game.

It's not the game itself that's bad, it's the thought of Tecmo porting a really old PS2 game to the Wii that was just bad. But with Wii-mote controls!

More great games to hear about.  I dig your style Yoda, sit back for a year, hear what everyone says are consistently good games and then swoop in at the end of the year.  (Don't know about Rygar, but for $5 I'd get it).

Hmm you know what I'm not sure now. If so I don't think it's an option that's on the system itself. It might be something that can be done in the game's option/settings. Of course it would only be something available for games that the developers knew of the DSi XL's design before hand. From what I've seen so far though I greatly prefer the larger screens at the expense of the pixelation that I have noticed.

Ah, thanks.

Wait........ someone bought Rygar? Nyaa

I am drowning in games!

I just got the Jedi Knight pack on steam. For a measly 5 bucks, I got 5 games:

  • Dark Forces
  • Jedi Academy
  • Dark Forces II
  • Mysteries of the Sith
  • Jedi Outcast

I also got gifted the Hitman collection by an awesome friend.

  • Hitman Codename 47
  • Hitman 2
  • Blood Money

I also got gifted CivCity: Rome by a kind GAFfer because the game was out of my region.

  • CivCity: Rome

Those games add up to the previous tally that included:

  • Defense Grid
  • King's Bounty Platinum
  • Machinarium
  • PB Winterbottom
  • Monkey Island and MI2 Special Edition
  • SC4 Deluxe
  • Super Meat Boy

I'll probably be picking up Children of the Nile as well.

I bought Limbo on new year's eve when it was reduced from 1200 stupids to 800 stupids.  Now that's what ... £7 perhaps?  Still expensive but I really wanted it.  Haven't downloaded it yet, will do so tomorrow morning.

My final tally for the Steam Sale

  • The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom
  • Monkey Island Special Edition Bundle
  • Super Meat Boy
  • Machinarium
  • Sim City Deluxe
  • King's Bounty Collection
  • Children of the Nile Complete Pack
  • Indie Smarts Pack
  • Indie Kids Pack
  • Everyday Genius: Square Logic
  • Freedom Pack
  • Port Royale 2
  • Tropico Reloaded
  • Broken Sword: Director's Cut
  • Jedi Knight Bundle

Got gifted:

  • Hitman Collection
  • CivCity Rome
  • Sid Meier's Pirates!

Total: 48.91

When I think I got hundreds of hours of quality gaming for less than the price of ONE measly retail game, not to mention getting to try games that are not in stock at retail anywhere, I'm going to have a hard time justifying my next console title. It will have to be damn good.

^^ That's an insanely great deal, Steel! Awesome!

I also picked up a handful of hobo titles this New Year's weekend.

  • Puzzle Quest 2
  • Silent Hill Shattered Memories
  • Valkyrie Profile Covenant of the Plume
  • Henry Hatsworth

All for less than a retail game as well! Happy

Steel, what is Tropica Reloaded? I have Trop3 on the 360 and it seems awesome (just more suited to the PC).

Yeah, Tropico 3 is the console port of the PC title. It's insanely fun and deep, and a game I've had my eye on for a while now. Unfortunately, my PC is not for gaming, and the game can be a bit demanding, at least going by the performance of the demo.

Tropico Reloaded is a compilation of the previous PC titles, Tropico and its expansion, and Tropico 2. I'm eager to try them out.

I just picked up a copy of Darksiders.  Not going to be able to play it for a while, but kind of glad I got it all the same.  Once VC is done, this will be a nice change of pace.
