I've been watching Bodacious Space Pirates
I expected a great entertaining comedy and it started quite well. Then.... it became the most boring thing I've ever seen - Girls Und Panzer with Spaceships only completely boring with a bunch of girls in a windowless room staring at computer screens and having long, dry technical talk that sends you to sleep. I don't know how they could fuck this one up. Space Pirates? Boring?
Finished all 366 episodes of Bleach and it was well worth it. Sad that it's over.

North American Anime, Manga Releases, February 7-13
So I finished series 1 of The Familiar of Zero
Louise is a noble girl who is terrible at magic, as her attempts usually result in an explosion. She is nicknamed "Zero Louise" by her classmates, due to the inability to use any of the four magic elements. Early in the school year at the Tristain Academy of Magic, the second year students perform a special ritual where they summon their familiar, which serves as their eternal protector and partner, and is usually some sort of magical creature. But Louise summons Saito Hiraga, an ordinary teenage boy from Japan, leaving her totally humiliated.
Pretty funny, lighthearted decent series. It's a bit like Rosario x Vampire only not shit.
Started Beyond the Boundary.
One day, high school student Akihito Kanbara instinctively goes to save his fellow schoolmate, Mirai Kuriyama, from committing suicide. Following his pleas, Mirai suddenly stabs Akihito with a sword formed out of her own blood and is shocked to discover that Akihito is an immortal "half-youmu"—the offspring of a supernatural creature, called a youmu, and a human
Only seen episode 1 but this seems really cool. You can tell by the way it's animated and the English dub, it's got that subtley and nuance that makes something like Toradora so good. Really think this is going to be a great series.

Is it true that Miyazaki has come out of retirement to work on new films?

Never heard of this but Yonebashi is doing another Ghibli film he's hinted at. You should be watching Hosoda directed movies now. Summer Wars etc.

Finished this, it's only 13 episodes. Good stuff, Toradora-ish nuanced comedy paired with some good fantasy action stuff.
Watched the first 4 eps of Bakuman and gave up on it. It's about a couple of kids who want to become manga artists and have their own anime.
It's very straight and boring compared to most anime. It's not bad per se I just want more fantastical elements. Also there is no English dub
Saw the first episode of The Ambition of Oda Nobuna, which is fairly confusing, there is no proper intro and it feels like you've switched onto the series on episode 2 or something and it seems to rely on the audiences' familiarity with Japanese history.
USA! You guys finally get to watch this now:
Funimation Licenses The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Anime Film
The Ambition of Oda Nobuna is like eating a burger that tastes of nothing. Feels completely pointless, but its watchable so you keep going despite that.
EDIT:
Gave up on it. It's shit.
So I finished Samurai Champloo, sorta.
I originally saw the first 10 episodes, then they sent me the wrong disc with episodes 19-26. So I am missing the middle episodes.
Anyhow, contrary to how I initially felt it's a pretty decent show. The difference being that now I have experienced truly bad anime.
Anyhow, Champloo still doesn't really have a decent story arc and it's a bit style over substance. They try and inject some sort of story near the end but it's far too late by then. Love the music though. Best anime soundtrack?

From the New World sucks ASS.
Do not make the mistake of even trying to watch it. It truly sucks.
I made it about 8 episodes in, it's set 1000 years in the future where people have telekinetic powers that makes technology redundant. And these kids live in some country bumpkin rural setting with a school to train them.
Phew I am glad you are here to tell us this as I was just about to start watching From the New World.
