The Hunter's Exam is finally over in Hunter X Hunter.

Dang that was a long time. I've never watched an anime 1 episode a week before. I'd go nuts, since they always end on cliffhangers.

Hunter x Hunter is only really going to start properly now.

Me, I finished Kill me Baby, it's fun enough but very inconsequential - like reading Garfield comic strips.

I finished Captain Earth Part 1.

The series follows high-school student Daichi Manatsu who starts working for the Globe organization to pilot a giant robot called the Earth Engine Impacter to protect the Earth from the invading alien force known as the "Kill-T-Gang", that intends to drain all the life force of mankind to empower their immortal existences.

It's by Bones and it's surprisingly good. Bones did FMA and Eureka Seven.

Why I like it is because it's half and half, on the one hand its kinda like Evangelion or Eureka Seven - but then they aren't afraid to throw in your typical anime goofiness into things. So half the time the earth is on the brink of descruction yada yada, then some chick is having her skirt up over here ears.

It really needs an English dub though because they like to make up all this terminology and weird names that are confusing. And there is still one aspect of it I can't work out.

So the main character has a gun that is.... like alive and can channel his lifeforce into it to power a mech - that's a "livlaster"

The bad guys are called the Kill-T-Gang.... yeah.... but they also refer to themselves as Planetary Gear? But then the mechs they use are sometimes called "Machine Goodfellows"

Then there are "Designers Children" and I had to read up on wikipedia about them, still don't know who designed them. There's a girl whose magical....singing can somehow help Teppai use a mech.

I don't really get how these Kill-t-gang who are from.... Uranus? Need to land on earth to suck all energy out of it, but they are already on earth and already have their machine goodfellows on earth. But somehow need 3 minutes to turn into kill-t-gangs so they can suck the energy from the earth? What what?

Finished Ouran High School Host Club

It's ostensibly a reverse Harem with one girl and many dudes. But it's not really. It's a group comedy about a school club where a bunch of guys have a Host Club where they entertain young women for fun and money with a tea room. At first I didn't like it and that had a lot to do with the colour palette. The Club itself is this garish pink or peach-ish colour which is a bit of an assault on the eyes and the series doesn't quite click in the first few episodes. But by the end I was a believer.

Very funny, pretty heart warming, always entertaining. I wish they had made more than the 26 episodes.

They have it in America it just isn't English dubbed.

I'm not that good at reading subtitles in English when the language spoken is in a different language.

I'm getting better but sometimes I still miss stuff.

I see.

They are missing the last few episodes on netflix which I still haven't seen. I should Crunchyroll it.

I've been watching Nura Rise of the Yokai Clan

Rikuo Nura is 3/4 human and 1/4 yōkai, in which he has a human form in the day but transforms into his yōkai form at night. He lives in a house full of yōkai along with his yōkai grandfather. Trying to escape his fate, he does good deeds in order to avoid becoming a yōkai, despite his grandfather's wish that Rikuo succeed him as the Third Head of the Nura Clan. Rikuo is different because he helps humans. He eventually comes to terms with his yōkai blood and decides to take up the position of the Third Head of the Nura Clan. Multiple factions aim to stop him or usurp his position, and he must gather friends and allies, a new Hyakki Yakō under his banner of "Fear".

I'd be lying if I said it was good, but it is enjoyable.

The commercial from Kaze made it look like a serious supernatural series but its more like a school comedy mixed with Yokai lore. I finished the first season, 26 episodes and its worth watching for all the different Yokai designs. Its pretty fun but not one of the better series out there.

Also been watching A Certain Scientific Railgun

Which is a spin off set within the same timeframe of the series: A Certain Magical Index

In the futuristic Academy City, which is made up of 80% students, many of whom are espers possessing unique psychic powers, Mikoto Misaka is an electromaster who is the third strongest of a mere seven espers who have been given the rank of Level 5. The series focuses on the exploits of Mikoto and her friends; Kuroko Shirai, Kazari Uiharu, and Ruiko Saten, prior to and during the events of A Certain Magical Index.

Magical Index was much more a Shonen type show, this is more like a school comedy for the most part and is actually better than the main series. Not sure you can watch it by itself though.

I watched the first episode of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I liked it. It wasn't what I expected based on what I heard about it.

I also love the ending theme song, Roundabout by Yes.

Continuing The Irregular at Magic High School, on episode 10.

This series never really feels right, yet not bad enough to quit.

Started Case Closed/Detective Conan? I feel like I'm missing something here. The first episode can't be the first episode here on Netflix. Didn't really like it anyway.

Started Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade works. Again The first episode can't be the first episode here on Netflix? One of the things that is annoying with anime is that they can't just  keep the same name of a show and call it season 1, 2, 3 etc.

Its all weird subtiles and can be confusing where to even start.

I got to the end of episode 196 of Fairytail last night.

I have now watched all 196 episodes through twice. For the record, I am about a hundred episodes ahead of what has actually been physically released in the UK. I have imported from the USA and its not cheap.

So I got to the end of the Grand magic Games storyline and the series is better than its ever been before. The feeling of joy, elation, comedy, action. It's all just right. I came to realisation that more than anything else in this world at the moment, Fairytail is my single biggest source of happiness.

I'm watching the second series of Nura Rise of the Yokai Clan and I'm really suprised at the uptick in quality. Less teenage Nura and more ancient legends, battles between Yokai and a significant rise in the violence stakes. It feels more like Ninja Scroll and has been pretty great so far.

Sadly this series is rare and pretty damned expensive to pick up on Bluray.

Finished season 2 of Nura - Demon Capital, great show. Ending obviously leads into another season - lets hope it's not cancelled.

The second season is on point like the Zanpakto Bleach season. Just a perfectly distilled essence of what the series does best.

Also started this Neflix anime show called Kuromukuro.

450 years prior to the present, an extraterrestrial force called Efy Dolgh invades Earth; the people of Sengoku era Japan dub their mecha and robotic drones as oni. The Washiba Clan falls victim to them, but clan heir Yukihime and her samurai retainer Kennosuke Tokisada Ouma fight back with a stolen Efy Dolgh mecha, which they dub the "Black Relic" (黒骸, Kuromukuro;text-decoration:none;">?). They succeed in vanquishing their foes, but when the Black Relic is caught in an enemy explosion, Yukihime disappears.

60 years ago, the Black Relic is unearthed during the construction of the Kurobe Dam. In the present day, the United Nations is researching it when the Efy Dolgh return. Yukina Shirahane, daughter of the UN facility director, accidentally triggers a cube component of Kuromukuro, releasing Kennosuke from cryostasis. Aided by Yukina's family and the UN in adjusting to life in the 21st century, he stands against Efy Dolgh's invasion of Earth just as he did in his home era. As the Black Relic is the most effective weapon the UN has against Efy Dolgh technology, Kennosuke becomes one of their most valuable assets. Due to an accident, Yukina is biometrically synchronized with the Black Relic, and as it requires two pilots, Yukina thus becomes Ouma's combat partner.

It's a mech anime but crossed with a comedy. Like it a lot so far. Very watchable, although the mech designs are bad.

I've been watching Free: Eternal Summer.

It's the sequel to Free! Which hasn't been released over here.

It's about a school swim team and it's very good. I can't help compare it to Haikyuu!.

That series has a laser focus on the court but I feel could do more off the court. While Free is mostly about what happens around the pool, not so much about actual competing inside the pool. Both ways have their strengths but I feel overall Haikyuu! relentless focus on the actual sport gets you into the action like a real sporting even. Free however has some much welcome other diversions.

It's a great series and I want to check out the origingal series. I should say that you don't even feel you are missing out watching Eternal summer if you haven't seen Free before.
