I know we're meant to look like a news paper, but on the front page do we have to have the text put in spaces where there shouldn't be just so that the paragraph is the irhgt size? It looks stupid, and isn't pleasent to read. Why don't we go for the good things about newspapers rather than the bad?

Okay, painful typography it is!

All newspapers have justified text. I didn't even notice it while I was reading until you mentioned it Nyaa. It could look even dumber not having proper columns.

My favourite is the giant quotes taken out of the main story. "No." Laughing

Forum-wise, there needs to be the ability to instantly go to page two or more in a topic, whilist browsing the main forum page.

Can we have quotes put into solid boxes instead of just having a line beside them? I find it kind of hard to distinguish who is saying what, especially once there are like 3 quotes in a post. If the background in the box could be a slightly different colour than the rest of the post, that would make it even better.

Well that'll never happen

Multi-coloured win. Now I can distinguish my post from the quote above it. Yay.

I have a suggestion. Page numbers on the threads on the main board page. So we can skip to the page we were looking at rather than having to flow through page 1 all the time. That would be cool.

I'm been planning out a different paging system for different sections as it will become a necessity over time. The size of the mark-up for the dropdown will just get too large eventually.

In short, probably this weekend we'll see something.

Wow, awesome job on the page numbers in the Forum, Yoda! That'll make things a lot easier to navigate. Happy

Can we have an archive of the past weekly home pages/"newspapers"? I assume you still have the past 2-3 weeks saved somewhere. Just like we have past editions of The Press Room, new members might want to look back through past editions of The VG Press just for giggles.

it is actually built for that, there just isn't a page that lists them

Firstly, great work on adding in the page numbers on the main forum page.

Secondly, would it be possible to have them on either the upper half of the topic's tab, or could it fill up the whole tab? Apart from it looking a whole lot better, it's more intuitive for easy clicking too.

Pretty much nitpicking now, though. Except for justification, that's a major problem! Nyaa

Just wanted to say how great the stuff you've added is Yo.

Can we have the option to edit our thread titles? I hit edit on the opening post and I could edit the post but not the thread title. If a thread is updated and such, it would be nice if we could change the thread title.

Thanks for the continued feedback. I think I've got a good rearrangement plan on the pages, and for editing topic titles, that was for the sake of simplicity as well as avoiding checking if every single edit or post is a topic. But I do think I've got a good workaround to make it nice and easy to do, so expect that...sometime.

I'll add one that I need to do, but it's a bit intensive so it's another thing I want to get to but haven't yet, and that's a new post editor (instead of tinyMCE). tinyMCE is nice, but it's a bit slow, and has been a horrible pain with IE.

The site has been updated with a new default WYSIWYG editor for posting for improved page loads and compatibility. You can still use tinyMCE by changing your editor choice in your account settings.

Please notify of any errors, as there were a lot of files modified for the change.

The new editor is working fine for me, Yoda. It's very streamlined. Posting pics seems to be much faster too. Nice update.

This isn't a problem or anything, but it took me a while to figure out how to write a responce under your quote. The curser wanted to remain on top, and clicking underneath the quote wouldn't work like it does in TinyMCE. I finally figured out that I had to hit the down arrow a couple times on my keyboard to move the curser to the right place. It's not a problem, but I thought I'd mention it in case others are having trouble with it too.

The initial upload had that issue, but I resolved it with a tweak, and testing now I'm not having that problem anymore. Try quoting a post then immediately check the HTML source. At the bottom you should see this (there's a space between):

If you instead see this (no space):

That means you need to clear your cache, because that's an older version of the file.

I cleared my browser cache, and it's working fine now. Thanks, Yoda.

New editor is cool. I have had a couple of problems where the visible window is too narrow width ways to see the whole post though.

IE7

In another instance, it wouldn't let me post more than a couple of pics in one post. When I hit submit it jumped to the top of the page and nothing appears.
