LOL you watched it. Awesome.

I would prefer an anime series. The Von Karma actor seems like a midget compared to the game but he was allright otherwise. Yes the music, I was sad because there is a Phoenix Wright Orchestral arranged album and it's flipping awesome, they could have just used that, but no. They riff off some of the main themes but they are subdued a lot.

I think I have give the movie a lot of slack because it's adapted 4 cases into a 2 hour movie and done it better than I could have imagined it. My favourite bit was when Mia manifested herself and Phoenix Wright just had this precious look on his face.

Also the bit when he said buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttt wwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaatttt iifffffffffffff and then the rival prosecutor yells Stop time wasting!

^ Yes that was fantastic. I wish the movie was a bit more comedic like that, instead they actually played it straight, well as straight as an AA game is.

It's remarkable what they did though, it truly is the game brought to life.

Miles' velvet suit I had a problem with, not sure why. I guess I always saw it as a normal redish suit, not velvet. Shame about Gumshoe, he was just there, because.... just. He also seemed too young for the role.

Fist of the North Star - 1980s anime series - Japanese with subtitles

Story: Interconnected Godlike martial artists duke it out in a post apocalyptic world for supremacy

This is a review of the Rao Story arc, the series does continue past this point.

Epic........ just epic. 14 discs, each disc with about 3 hours on it. It seems very rare for a non-child friendly anime series to have so many episodes like this does. They stories are all interconnected, it feels like an epic saga because of the room the series has to grow. There are iconic Titan like characters, whose confrontations will rock the heavens. It's a posturing, powerful, manly martial arts series with enough subversion and out of this world death scenes and confrontations to really stand out.

Like any good anime worth its salt it has startling and well worked revelations, a deep backstory and some awesome action scenes.

Made more epic by the period it was made in. Yes, you can lump it in with other 80s media like Robocop, Predator, Aliens, Rambo etc. It looks, feels and sounds like the 80s and is better for it. Getting to watch the full series so many years after the 80s movie I used to love makes it feel very special.

And I can back the Official Chinese 24 disc edition with English Subtitles, the picture quality is far better than expected and the translations are mostly very solid, like 97% solid and the rest you can make sense of quite easily.

Rating: A

Note: Is on cruise control till Ken faces Shin. Then the series gets better.

Supernatural The Anime - Japan series, English audio

Story: The continuing adventures of the Winchester brothers as they hunt down all manner of supernatural beings

A strange one this, it remakes some of the first two seasons episodes in anime form, whilst also producing original exclusive episodes. It's pretty decent, if patchy and the copies of the live action episodes come off best. For fans of the show only, this is a decent but not spectacularly successful anime. It's nice to see a western american setting in anime and more western like format and stories.

John Wick

The Keanu Reaves gun porn revenge flick is actually really great. Best motivation for someone to kill bad guys ever, seriously everyone needed to die. I loved the hotel and the entire hitman community they invented, there could be a whole movie based on that alone. Amazing gun fights I want a game to play like that. Great action flick.

THE WIND RISES - ANIMATED STUDIO GHIBLI FILM

Story: From the director of Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle and Ponyo comes a biopic about a Japanese plane inventor who created a figther jet, for Japan to use during WW2.

The Wind Rises, sadly is Miyazakis last movie. It feels like an old man sinking into a bath and saying ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Miyazaki has gone out with a whimper rather than a bang. It's a very reflective, quiet, long and somewhat boring movie. One would assume that he drew inspiration for the aircraft designers' paper scribblings from his own life but no matter how he dresses it up, a man scribbling furiously on paper is not exciting. There's some lighthanded, almost deft avoidance going on about Japans' role in WW2 and the Nazis etc. I prefer fantastical imaginative Ghibli films, so this real world story is fairly staid and mundane. Unlike From Up on Poppy Hill it's not funny or whimsical either, so as a Ghibli fan it fails on most levels. It's 2 hr running time feels like 3 and a half hours, it's long, drawn out and somewhat pointless.
