WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST WATCH???????????
TEAM NINJA AND NINTENDO MAKING A 3RD PERSON METROID GAME? WHAT THE HELL IN HEAVEN ABOVE WAS THAT?
WHAT ARE RETRO DOING?
THIS CONFERENCE WAS SHIT BUT THE TWO BIG GAMES WERE WORTH IT.
I will now stop typing in capitals.
i was just thinking about the Retro question. are they still tied to nintendo or could they be making a game for the big consoles?
Retro is wholly owned by Nintendo, but 3 high profile employees left for EA/Armature.
Dvader said:Super Mario Galaxy 2 was amazing. Best of the show by far. I still saw too little of Metroid to really get a sense of what kind of game it was.
The conference was a sagging pile of crap, then Mario Galaxy 2 shows up.
Just watching it brought back that giddy feeling of playing the first game. It's one of the best games I've ever played and having a sequel on the same console, that is like heaven in a box, I would buy it tommorrow.
Metroid other M? How can they keep this stuff a secret? It's huuuuuuuuge.
And where is Zelda? No Zelda now means we might have to wait another 2 years for it to show up!

Retro has been busy with Zelda.
As far as the conference goes, it was boring at times, but it was exactly what I expected. Nintendo has a wider audience than other companies so they have to address games that some of us couldn't care less about.
But 4 new games were officially announced that I'm highly interested in so for me it was a victory.
could have been the best conference ever. it's still good because of galaxy 2 and team ninja metroid but i need to get over some disappointment first
Reggie was on G4, Retro is working on something. Galaxy 2 is coming out next year.
I saw the Metroid again, some areas looked like it was circular in nature, and you were fighting one or two opponents. But it also looks like there were paths leading to that area. So what i think its a 2D sidescroller but you hit a sort of 3D arena section and the camera flips around to a 3D look and you have a fight. Again that is looking at 30 seconds of footage so I have no clue.
SteelAttack said:Red Steel 2 looks kickass. Kick-motherfucking-ass. Great announcements all the way through, from New SMB2 for Wii to Galaxy 2 to new Metroid, hell, I'm even interested in WiiFit plus.
They didn't even show Red Steel 2 at the conference.
If they had wanted to, they could have pulled out a storming conference instead of everybody putting up their stuff days before. We could have had hands on demos of Silent Hill and Red Steel 2. Er........ where the hell was Rabbids Go Home? It's out in October? They could have demoed FFCC and held the trailer back for the conference. Where the hell as Monster Hunter 3?
They are actually in a position to show a ton of stuff and instead they lose any sense of showmanship and stick Cammy on stage selling James Pattersons womens murder club!
No wonder 3rd parties hate them. I hate them!

is that just instinct about Retro or is there any information to lead to that conclusion?
i agree with your other assessments. was just thinking that galaxy 2, Other M and Golden Sun DS alone make this perhaps better than microsoft's conference.

yeah, they mentioned red steel 2. would it hurt them to show some awesome footage and have someone on stage slashing away with wii motion plus? so many missed opportunities. makes one very angry

I have nothing substancial other than a rumor that was mentioned a while back on IGN's podcast (I think that's where it came from). They said that Retro was at one point working on the new Zelda, but it may have been taken away from them. Again, I have nothing to back this up, but that does all make sense now since Retro doesn't seem to have anything big to announce and coincidentally no new Zelda was announced either.

IGN said that they were (rumoured) to have been doing one at one point. But that it was cancelled.

Capcom gave us two excellent and one good handheld Zeldas. In contrast, the last two console Zeldas and the last handheld Zelda were disappointments.

What about Capcom?
SteelAttack said:I believe they didn't show Red Steel and Rabbids because of the Ubi presser yesterday. They could have rounded up this one nicely if they had managed to show the games you mention, though.
I know, but ideally they should have worked this out with Ubisoft months ago, said that "we will showcase your games in our conference so keep it underwraps."

I thought the conference sucked balls, but so do YOU.
BUT TYPING IN CAPITALS IS FUN!
