OOOMMMGGG this Mandalorian.... errr um Boba Fett episode!! This is Star Wars fan heaven, I could not believe what I was watching. The tech they have is insane, they could do anything now!
Shang-Chi - fun kung fu movie that was a refreshing change of pace from the typical superhero movie. Unfortunately it got brought down a couple pegs by the big end battle where they switched from all that fun martial arts to a more supernatural threat. Even worse though was the presence of Awkwafina (or however she spells her name). For the past 10 years she's been the exact same character and everything she's done. While it's tolerable in 5 or 10 minute doses, it doesn't work when she has as much screen time as she does in this. Oh, and she just can't act. There's also that.
The Eternals - I thought this was great. Not sure why it got such a hard time from critics. It had a very different vibe, but given the size of the cast and the nature of the story that was spread out over 7,000 years, I thought it worked very well. My biggest regret was that I knew the mid-story twist (from the Earth X miniseries from 20 years ago), and couldn't fully enjoy it. Oh, and well I understand why they brought in Dane Whitman as a character, I really thought he was kind of a waste of space.
Hawkeye - pretty good. It definitely started out slow, and maybe it was just me, but Kate Bishop irritated the hell out of me. But by episode 3 it found its footing and there was enough extra characters popping in and out that kept everything very engaging.
I'm watching the third season of Enchanted at the moment. Either the series has improved, or my tolerance for it's many foibles has increased. The episodes seem less like random strings of visual gags without a semblance of coherence, with the humour now supporting the story instead of the other way around. It's mindless entertainment really.
I don't remember ever hearing anybody talk about this show, and that's confusing since personally I think it's brilliant. I've read that a lot of people didn't like the second season, so maybe that was enough to remove it from pop culture. I'm 10 episodes in on season 1 so we'll see where it goes from here, but once again I'm loving this.
It's the first time the show hasn't been terrible. I don't really know why I continued to watch it after the first season, which had a few good episodes in it...and the story was at least worth following. But I'm almost glad i did now.
Carnivale does indeed turn to shit, but it ends well so you'll eventually be rewarded for sticking with it.
I've been going through My Bride Is a Mermaid and Sailor Moon too slowly. My Bride Is a Mermaid is perhaps not as funny as it was when I first watched it ten years ago. Still pretty funny but it's no School Rumble. Sailor Moon has a very filler-y start, but now that the first mini arc is over, maybe it'll really get going. First time watching since... 1997? (Not counting when I watched about a dozen episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal when it came out.)

Yeah I've hit that moment in the series. Seems like after the first episode of the second season, the plot just stopped moving all together. But you can also tell that the budget cuts had a bad effect on the show. The regular cast shrunk, and they had to start dragging the stories out far longer than they need to.
Oh well, only six more episodes to go until the series concludes, so I shall endure.

A supernatural show where an evil spirit is murdering people. Pretty decent. More of a thriller than a horror.
It was a horror movie that had a couple good ideas but overall seemed average, and ultimately was going to live or die by the ending. And unfortunately the ending was junk. The director opted for an open/ambiguous ending, but just didn't do enough throughout the movie to really sell that as a good choice.
I will however give credit to Rebecca Hall for an excellent performance. She's in every scene and most of the time she's the only actor in the scene. That's a lot of weight for an actor to carry and she nailed it. Sadly, the director and editor didn't quite carry their weight.
Anyone watch Ozark? It ended this weekend, I love the show but it did not stick the landing. This show shows me how rare it is for a show to do what Breaking Bad did which was end perfectly. Speaking of which Better Call Saul is amazing and it's starting it's final season.
I need to start that. I'll probably wait until Better Call Saul is over.
Bill Murray apparently complained that he thought Groundhog's Day should have dealt more with spirituality rather than all of the comedy that it had. I think the end results speak with themselves, and Groundhog's Day was a nearly perfect movie. Nothing should have been changed. But for anyone who might have wondered what Murray's vision might have looked like, Russian Doll delivers on the concept.
It's funny, it's clever, and a it's a bit thought provoking. Really, it's one of the best comedies I've seen in a long time. Plus, I've always like Natasha Lyonne, though it's been at least 15 years since I've seen her in anything good. So it's nice to see her again in something I actually enjoy.
I won't quite say it was a disaster. There were a couple good episodes that keep building expectations, but again nothing really ever happened. Not a shock that it didn't get picked up for a second season.
