I'm rewatching Polar Bear Café (or Shirokuma Café). It's about a café, of course, but it's also about a lazy, narcissistic panda who works at the zoo as an exhibit.

Just finished the first episode of The Last of Us. Looks like they're really doing this by the book (or by the game I suppose), but they've done a really good job of flushing a few details out and building some extra suspense and scenes.

Plus, the first 3 minutes? Holy crap. In just 3 minutes they essentially set up the background of what happened in a way that the game never did. It's actually quite brilliant. They don't get too deep into anything, but just put out enough science that makes everything make sense and you don't really feel the need to question what happened or what's going on.

I just watched the first three episodes of the Willow series. I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far.

I went back a finished the rest of the episodes. Wow did it go downhill fast, lol.

Speaking of things going downhill quickly, I'm watching The Mayfair Witches. I never read the book series, but since Interview with a Vampire is possibly one of the best TV shows I've seen in decades, I thought this would be somewhere in the ballpark of that level of quality. Nope.

The first episode wasn't bad, but that seems to have been the best they had to offer so far. The most recent episode, the third, just came to a screeching halt.

Not reading the book may have been a blessing though. It seems that most people who have read it are furious with the liberties they've taken. Lots of important characters are being cut out, characters that remain often seem very one dimensional, and despite the fact that the show takes place in New orleans, not a single person has an appropriate accent. There are no cajun, new orleans, or Southern accents.

We somehow started watching 'That 90's Show'.  It's ok, although I don't favour the odds of it ever getting a second season.  It's basically the exact same show as 'that 70's show', only the kids are now (partially) the kids of the original cast.  Whenever the original cast is on screen it's great, but when it's only the new faces, it all falls kind of flat.  It doesn't help that the 2 main characters' performance is pretty bad.  They're just not convincing and their interactions are always wooden.

I guess the show was always going to have a hard time.  The original kids were all great -albeit very stereotypical- characters, but they couldn't just replace them with carbon copies so they ended up with a less interesting and less defined cast.

I was cautiously excited about That 90's Show until I started seeing some clips from it. If Red and Kitty weren't in them, it just looked awful.

I've since read a couple reviews, and I think what's resonated most is that the better ones remind everyone that the original had perfect casting and the group had chemistry from day one. That seems to be the missing ingredient on this show.

Thank you for more eloquently stating what I was trying to communicate.  Well said.

We watched 'The Pale Blue Eyes' a Netflix produced (and thus exclusive) movie featuring Christian Bale.  It was the first Netflix film we saw that wasn't utter shite.  I actually enjoyed it and would even dare recommend it.

I'm watching the new Night Court on Peacock with Bernadette from The Big Bang Theory and the returning John Larroquette. The pilot wasn't particularly good, but after that the show actually improved noticeably. It's too early to say if it will be as good as the original, since most of the supporting cast are still being introduced and finding their footing. But for now it's good enough, with just enough familiarity to make it good comfort watching.

I saw the first two episodes. It's better than I expected. Hopefully it continues to improve.

It does continue to improve, and I'm hopeful that even going forward it will do so a little more. Off the top of my head I can only think of two or three sitcoms that were good straight out of the gate. I think most needed to make it about halfway through the first season before they started to find their groove.

I've been watching the original Night Court on Amazon too. I didn't realize how many cast changes it had the first two seasons.

It would be great if Richard Moll (Bull) had a cameo on the new show at some point.

It certainly weird to see Dan in his seventies. I honestly think he should've been the judge.

John Larroquette is almost 30 years older than I am, and I'm pretty sure I would switch bodies with him right now. That guy looks amazing for his age.

Youtube. Double Fine Doc on the making of psychonauts 2. I don;t care about the game at all, but it's a very interesting doc about making video games.  I am up to chapter 12.

The Last of Us series has wrapped up for season 1. The final episode really had no major deviations from the game, although finally getting some official backstory on Ellie's mom was nice. Nothing particularly revelatory, but nice confirmation all the same.

I don't think I'm going to watch season 2 after this though. I did find myself kind of bored with the last three episodes as they all played it pretty safe and stuck very close to the source material, whereas they were giving out a lot more backstory and taking a few more licenses with the first half of the season.

This morning I finished watching Reacher on Prime. It's nothing real special, but it was a solid mystery TV show. Pretty much in the vein of Longmire or Luther, except that this mystery was stretched out across eight episodes. To give them full credit though, that's exactly how long it needed to be. For the most part it was well paced and it wasn't stretched out just so they could have a couple extra episodes.

Finally saw Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania, and I've got to go with the critical opinion, this was the worst MCU movie thus far. The third act was decent, but it was a rough journey to get there. Seemed like they wanted to make a cheesy 80's sci-fi movie, but couldn't quite commit.
