Best Buy has a great sale today for ps4 games. BB for $15. TLOU remaster for $15. And more.

For sure try bloodborne, it's faster paced than souls maybe you will like it. Get the uncharted collection for cheap, great fun games. Get MGSV of course.

MGSV is a bitchin play though. It dials back Metal Gear's bullshit, it's story is bullshit enough on its own merits that it's still worthy of straight skipping, and the thing that makes it fun are the gameplay. Worst case scenario is you're gonna have to accept that game has a ridiculous amount of filler and no real difficulty curve since it doesn't have difficulty settings. You might benefit the most for not having played previous Metal Gear games.

That's what the world has come to thanks to technology.  You can't be sure of anything unless you can squeeze 'em.

LOL That totally reminded me of that Seinfeld episode where they were wondering if this one women's breasts were real or not. I think Elaine was in the sauna with her where she tripped and went to catch herself from falling by reaching out and grabbing her breasts.

That was complete bullshit though. The woman in question was being played by Teri Hatcher who had breast implants!  "Real and spectacular" my ass. It must be impossible to find women in Hollywood with large natural breasts.

Well looks like my PS4 isn't happening, at least for now. Amazon really seems to go out of their way to make things difficult for their customers these days. Long story short, my family bought a refurbed model from one of the Amazon 3rd party sellers, and it two weeks after it was ordered they announced it wasn't it stock. So now I have an Amazon gift card instead, and honestly I think I'd rather use it for other things. But I am going to watch Sony's announcement tomorrow about the Slim and see if it drives down the price of the regular models (assuming those fucking things exist somewhere on Amazon....)

At this point you might as well wait for Neo or Scorpio just because you'll be set for at least 5 years.

We'll see. At the rate I play new games these days a standard PS4 will last me 5 years and a Neo would probably last me 10 years.

I plan to get a PS4 around Christmas so I have to look through this thread.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:

  • SMB Mix-Up! (1AB2-0000-0047-5A7D)
  • Storm the Castle (77BD-0000-00E0-A9C0)

robio, how far did you get in Dark Souls before giving up? It's a difficult series to get into mainly because people aren't accustomed to treating combat with so much care. I remember I got DS1 during a Steam sale and gave up on it for probably a year, but that was only because I went down two different higher-level paths from the start instead of seeing where I was supposed to go, and also because I didn't have a controller and was using keyboard and mouse (without the DSFix mods). My thinking was that, being marketed as such a difficult game, those two paths must be the only places I can go, so the game is indeed just too hard for me. Well, I got a PC-compatible controller later and discovered the more natural path for my level, and discovered that, even though the game was still hard, the marketing was overblowing it. Prepare to die? Sure. Prepare for it to be as hard as the media says? Definitely not. For the sake of trying to get you back into it, let me just be clear about the path you should be going in once leaving Firelink Shrine (assuming you got there from the Undead Asylum): skirt the cliff upward to the right. Do not go underground or into the graveyard until far later in the game or until your combat proficiency improves significantly. You'll find that, with few exceptions, the difficulty curve is actually not that bad along this recommended path.

Of course, if you got past that point and the above is all irrelevant, then I guess it's just not a series for you, which is understandable. In which case, don't get Bloodborne. I haven't played it, but I have played Dark Souls 3. The combat in DS3 is much faster than in DS1, and Bloodborne's is supposed to be even faster. In addition, you'll actually have to grind for healing items if you run out of them. Not so with Dark Souls. It sounds to me like BB may actually be the most difficult "Soulsborne" game.

And as an aside: If you were ever to try getting into Soulsborne on PS4, don't let DS2 be representative of the other games. It's a true black sheep amongst the others. Personally, it just doesn't feel as good to play as DS1 and DS3. Takes more getting used to, something I haven't done yet.

Slight tangent, but I have all three Dark Souls games on my Xbone, and I bought Bloodborne to kind of goad myself into getting a PS4. However, I wouldn't be paying for PS Plus (XBL will do me fine and I don't tend to do multiplayer, even in Dark Souls), so that's not a perk, and I'm not sure that the exclusives are worth the price of entry. I'm not sold on the Uncharted series or The Last of Us just yet, but aside from Bloodborne, those are really the only things that interest me at all on the PS4, given that I already have multiplat releases taken care of. Anyone care to persuade me to part with $300?

Honestly I do not remember how far I got in the game. Not super far. Maybe five hours? I believe I killed a couple bosses, but it has been about four years since I played it. I enjoyed it, but it was not the kind of game I wanted to play at that point in time. Maybe one day I will check it out again.
