I've considered Spain and France.
All jokes aside though, I have three friends who have moved to Mexico and Portugal in the past 2 months. All three are members of the alphabet mafia and just don't feel safe here anymore. And I really don't blame them.
Don't move to Spain, France, or, God forbid, Italy to avoid absurdist right-wing politics. The lattermost literally invented them.

yeah I'm well aware. That second where the fantasy starts turning into a fact-finding mission always ends in disappointment. Then I will say on my tick tock a couple months ago, I started getting bombarded with realtors from Tuscany, and I got to admit I completely understand how just of you can sell you on something.

My own fantasy is imagining American refugees fleeing to Holland and encountering Black Pete, or other such European phenomena! There's probably a Tiktok for that, too.

You're already too late for that. Every yeare there's a big kerfuffle about Black Pete and how it's a racist tradition. so half the time it's Soot Pete these days.
It will be glorious and peaceful. Before the council informs you they're turning the fields behind your house into a garbage dump, motorway or flats for city folk.

They'll be right at home. My dream is ruined.

Yeah, plus the weather. Australia is amazing for quality of life, and the politics can be easily ignored as they are irrelevant. Other than the taxes. I pay a third. But I'll take it.
There's literally this country village here.
They built a waste incinerator behind this small housing development surrounded by fields.
Now it's a village that reeks of burning garbage. The residents can't sell their property as no one wants to move there. The windows are permanently closed, they can't use their back yards and there are flies everywhere.
UK in a nutshell.
The UK Department of Immigration and Relocation is about to send GE a strongly worded letter for this.

man, I wish I paid a third. I pay over half, easily.

And I thought working for the government for 4 months was a crime!

Just do what a local influencer and onlyfans model did. And I don't mean stream yourself in spicy undies, but stop paying taxes altogether! But then do not do what she did, namely openly talk about it in an interview.
She said she stopped paying after she found it 'unfair' how the government 'took so much of her hard earned money' from her. That was 2 years ago. Government looked into her accounting and recently asked for €50.000 in due taxes + a hefty fine. Her lawyer is playing the 'she's just a young entrepreneur who was a bit sloppy with her accounting' card. Not sure how that will work out in light of the interview.
Stories like that can really make my day.
