So what are everyone's expectations of this new Zelda?  Do you expect to be enamoured with this new found freedom, or will you yearn for the more formulaic linear storytelling?

Personally, I'm expecting to be kind of let down.  Not because it won't be an awesome game, but because I don't like huge sandbox worlds.  I'll love all the bits that are directed by the devs (dungeons, story bits, cutscenes), but I'll probably rush past most of the optional stuff that requires you to roam Hyrule to find.

Hey now, no need to generalize things.  My level of contribution has skyrocket in the last 5 years.

That is true. But where is Iga, GG was less cynical Nyaa, I put lots more effort into things.

Yes.  You are all definitely slacking off.

But hey, I'm enjoying the Skyward Sword hype thread right now.  Great way to get hyped without risking spoilers.  It even got me thinking about how I'd rank the console Zelda games:

1. A Link to the Past

2.  Ocarina of time

3. Wind Waker

4. Majora's Mask

4. Skyward Sword

5. Twilight Princess

I haven't played enough of the original to judge it, and haven't played any of tLoZ 2.  I guess I could add in the handheld zelda games as well, I've played them all up to the DS versions, which didn't hold much appeal to me;

I'm scared. I think the exploration will be amazing, I read the GI article and everything they did with exploring sounds amazing and fun. I will lose so many hours messing around. The dungeons scare the crap out of me, aunoma says they are smaller, no longer maze like, in fact the dungeon they played you can see the goal right away, you just need to figure out how to reach it. No dungeon item. No keys. I fear the dungeons will just be slightly more elaborate puzzle shines. Losing the magic of the themed dungeon with the new item to find.

I think I would like all the exploration. I like to go out of my way to explore every part of a game so I would probably be overwhelmed with all the exploration at first.

I get overwhelmed with sandbox games at first until I get used to the world map.

That part is definitely scary.  Sounds kinda like a Skyrim cave.

I really am getting hyped by this thread.  Apparently I liked Skyward Sword a lot more than I recall. Maybe I need to replay it soon.

Yeah I'm kind of worried about how this open world will affect Zelda. Exploration will be amazing but I'm worried about the dungeons the change in the linear storytelling.

I'm worried I will be let down. I don't want Ass Creed 3 style hunting for meat and furs just to survive in Zelda. I'm also worried about the lack of focus. There's a lot of real estate sure, but will it just have small shrines scattered about?

Wow, seems like everyone is having some serious reservations about BotW.  I thought I'd be the only one.  Ah well, at least it looks stunning.

TP was the most formulaic 3D Zelda game, and thus I enjoyed it the least.  TP came to be because of all the people who moaned about the artstyle of the Wind Waker.  I enjoyed TP, or at least most of it, but I could never shake the feeling that it was Nintendo just going through the motions.  Right at the end of the game this troup of freedom fighters breaks into Ganon's castle or something, and I remember thinking 'finally, something new is going to happen, there's going to be some kind of squad based gameplay'.  But that never happened.  They made a cameo in one short cutscene as a distraction, and then you never saw them again.

I don't have it.

That is one of the 3 Zelda games I never played not counting Hyrule Warriors.

I need to still play Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, and Tri-Force Heroes.

I am so pissed at these fucking morons playing triforce heroes. I assume they are fucking idiot kids that never played a complex game in their life. I Haven't been Thisbe angry at a game in a long time, these people can't operate a fucking simple water wheel with a water wand! This is level 2 you fucking shits, this Is the easy part. Logic, what the fuck is that, who need that anymore.

I can't play this game online, I'm going to kill someone.
