It can't possibly beat OOT because OOT was totally revolutionary. Unless they're seriously comparing an N64 game to a modern game....may as well compare Rise of the Tomb Raider to TR1 or Metal Gear Solid to MGS5. Of course the new game is technically "better". I'm sure it's an incredible game but throwing the greatest of all time thing around in this age is tough. Plus there's been numerous games imo that are right up there with OOT on the list anyway. But greatest of the great....shit I can't remember the last game I thought was that good. Maybe Mass Effect 2.
All I can think of when people make these claims is GTA4. Yeah it was a great game, but NOWHERE NEAR as good as people made it out to be at the time.
I agree with Edge. I find it hard to believe a game that is being released today, and by all accounts seems to be chasing the openworld/physics trend of late, could be a greater game than something as revolutionary as OoT.
Unless of course they meant to say greatest Zelda game of all time.

I thank you, good sir. Who am I to disagree with a statement of truth made during one of your clearer moments?
The only Zelda game I've played not better than OoT is OoT 2: Twilight Princess.
Here is the actual quote:
“Plenty of games promise to let us go anywhere and do anything. Few, if any, ever deliver so irresistibly. 19 years on Ocarina is still help up as the high water mark of gaming’s best loved and greatest series. Now it may have to settle for second place.”

I'm not sure if that's a compliment or an insult.
from VG247:
In the upcoming issue, Edge Magazine notes both Wii U and Switch versions for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were played. We’re going to assume for now the 10/10 score given is for both versions combined, until more information is made available.
So basically both the WiiU and the Switch version received a 5/10, which they then added up?
Main quest 20 hours long. That doesn't seem all too impressive if you ask me, considering how large the world seems to be.

Vaders post was misleading, the mag said it beats OOT as the best zelda.
It didn't say it was the goat.

Although if you regard OOT as the goat then that means BOTW is the new goat.
robio said:Wait, is Phantom Hourglass no longer considered the best Zelda game? When did that happen?
I think that happened in one of those alternate Zelda timelines.

The quote says zelda is gamings greatest series, the best game in the best series is the GOAT.

Devils advocate, you could have gamings greatest series without having any individual entry being hailed as the GOAT. Like a great tv series might not have the greatest ever individual episode of tv ever made.
