I'm going to count Monster Hunter World as beaten.  I've played it for 60 hours and we've seen the credits roll.

That said, everyone who has played MH for a prolonged period knows we can easily still play this for 100+ hours, which I probably will.

Congrats! Yeah once the credits roll it’s good enough for the list.

Yep. Credits = a win. That said, did you see the first set or the second set?

Mother 3 is in the books for me and good god damned is that a fine game. The way the story starts as a family based adventure in just a quiet idyllic sleepy village and evolves into a batshit insane sci-fi fantasy epic is just a masterpiece in video game story telling. And the way it creeps up, you almost don't even notice what it's turning into. So good. Mother 3 was actually the first game in the series I played to completion, and then (over the next 6 or so years) I worked my way backwards through the series. So now that I go back and play it again, there's a lot of subtle things I've noticed and or understand a connection to. The games aren't super connected, but there's little pieces here and there. Anyway, I have more appreciation than ever for it.

Just bought and a couple hours later completed Little Inferno...... and that was junk. I was a huge fan of 2-D Boy's first game, World of Goo and when Little Inferno was announced as a launch title for the Wii U I probably should have been more excited than I was but something held me back. Now that I've played it, the thing that held me back was apparently my instincts. Anyway the game is an interesting idea, but lord knows it's boring as hell with just enough weirdness that keeps you going. I guess I could have spend $5 on something worse. But as soon as I finished it, I deleted it.

1. Blaster Master Zero - 5/10

2. The Banner Saga 3 - 5/10

3. God of War 4 - 7/10

4. Nex Machina - 8/10

5. Devil May Cry 5 - 10/10* (it's probably a 9, but fuck me, I don't care)

6. Devil May Cry 1 - 8/10 (I probably should bump Dad of War up like one more point, but DMC1 is super fun as a score chasing game)

7. Beat Dark Souls 3 DLC (Ashes of Ariandel and Ringed City) - 8/10

I'll focus on the last one. Sister Friday, Gale, and Midir were all exceptional boss fights. With Spear of the blah blah being wack, Champions Grave being fun, and Demon Prince being satisfying as hell. All in all good show

Yeah, as a commentary on modern day society it's interesting enough, but as a game it's a total bore.

Beat Guacamelee 2 yesterday.  I loved the original and I fear that my expectations were too high for the sequel.  It's enjoyable, but nothing more.  The whole game is screaming for some kind of light world/dark world switchup that never materializes.  7/10.

Yeah as much as I loved the original, I never felt the need for a sequel. I couldn't quite pull the trigger on it once it was released for some reason. I was happy enough to just replay the original.

You made a good call.

This is also a game where the control scheme just didn't mesh with my mind.  I lost count of how many times I died because I pressed the wrong button for what I wanted to do.

Just watched the end game credits for The Evil Within 2. Pretty good game. It's kind of an interesting trade-off. The gameplay is better and the open world segments are fantastic. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the "bat-shit crazy what the fuck is going to happen next" feel of the original.

I’ve traveled from CoraCola to SpacyCola. Rescued Dr. J and saved an alien race from extinction all with my trusty yo-yo. I’m a radicola hero who looks cool, except for those bananas in my ears.

Beat Jotun yesterday.  I didn't warm to it and the difficulty spike of the last boss frustrated me more than I felt challenged.  I searched online for tips, and the general consensus was that he was a right pain in the ass.  The developers themselves also noted somewhere that his homing arrows could be destroyed, which made things a lot easier as they were near impossible to dodge.  Good game design would have at least hinted at this possibility though.  There's not a single attack you can counter in the whole game, but lets make our final boss depend on it!  Didn't like the art style much.  Didn't like the idea of the near empty area's you visit in between boss fights.  Didn't like how 'slow' everything was.  -  5/10

My 10th completed game of the year goes to Recore....finally I've finished it.

This is a really great game with cool characters and an interesting setting....until about the last 5 hours of the game. Then it becomes one of the most tedius, frustrating games I've played the entire generation. They rely on the old PS2 era gimmick of fetch quest/pointless combat and platform scenarios to pad the game out and make it longer. Unfortunately they didn't get the memo that a more focused experience is better. You've already gotten the money from people...why does it matter if you force them into another 5 hours of filler? I'd rather have the shorter, more enjoyable experience. *See also Metal Gear Solid.

I still wouldn’t mind getting Recore myself one of these days. So many games to buy.
