Sadly none of that surprises me. There are people who still believe that the Earth is flat after all.

It is flat! Nyaa

To be fair, Bill Gates is evil (or at least disruptively incompetent in many of his philanthropic activities). I don't think the guy could pull off a grand conspiracy to begin a pandemic then inject everyone with microchops; unless someone else was doing it and he could steal their work, of course! Nyaa Maybe he's just cribbing off Dr. Fauci's deep state activities?

That said, he is responsible for some great cars being imported into America without being crushed, so he has that going for him.

No impact on me so far, other than more work. And I can't go furniture shopping.

Update time: the second wave is upon us! Numbers for daily infections tripled or even quadrupled. Today a lot of our liberties have once again been reigned in. No private parties allowed (think big bbq's and marriages) and we're only allowed close contact wirh5 people outside our house for at least 4 weeks.
That's down from an irresponsible 15 people that could be mixed up every week. Seriously, that rule meant nearly anything was game and got us in this 'second wave' in the first place!

There is a "second wave" in Victoria, too. Luckily the first wave was so tiny the second wave is a tremendous success by international standards, even if it is an epic fail by national standards; the state of New Zealand having done by far the best per capita.

Not in Florida. No pandemic here. We are going about our business like almost nothing has changed. Granted, we are technically the worst spot in the country, but those are just numbers. Numbers aren't real, right?

That's one way to look at it. It's also important to remember that we have alligators that are high on meth. So if one thing doesn't get you, something else will.

Well at least getting eaten by drugged up gators isn't contagious (at least not by my knowledge).

I have a foolproof way of lowering the numbers worldwide.

Hang on to your butts folks, here it is:

Just stop testing! Boom. No more numbers!

You’re welcome.

You'll never understand the pain of two new quarantined cases. That's as many as the whole week of quarantined cases before it!

Well, on Tuesday everything was perfectly normal and I went to class. Wednesday the whole city was under lockdown. So quick this time.

Aaand we're back in lockdown!

Apparently the only difference between a lockdown and not-a-lockdown is that shops have closed down.  Government has been incrimentally increasing meassures and shutting stuff down as of september after allowing everything in august, but never dared to call it a lockdown.  Because of this our freedoms have been impaired for 2 months already, and the virus has still managed to spiral out of control worse than it did in april.  And now everything is closed except for food stores, hospitals, businesses and elementary schools.

What a shitshow.  Everybody knew what meassurements were in place were insufficient.  We should have gone in lockdown at least a month earlier.  It'd have been a shorter lockdown than what is going to be needed now, and the medical system wouldn't be on the brink of a breakdown.

I just hope that they won't turn back meassures to allow people a 'normal' christmas like they did with the summer hollidays.  If they do we'll be headed for a third lockdown next year again.

Yeah, by now it's pretty clear to need to actually commit extreme measures whether that's doing nothing at all, or implementing invasive enough limitations of contact between people that the virus can't actually spread. Anything in between that, and you may as well just be doing nothing, except you get to experience both the stress of limited contact between people and the grief of above average deaths and long-term disability---plus a bonus helping of stress from constantly changing conditions of expected behaviour!
