I don't know if you've read the previews I posted or more importantly watched the GVG Good Vibes Gaming impressions videos:

They talk about it feeling unreal, surreal seeing some of the games running in person. Like they couldn't believe how good it looked. Especially apparent hearing them talk about Zelda upgrades, even if to me I wasn't impressed seeing it.

But for me, the most powerful system I've seen in person is a switch. Seeing the Prime 4 footage or some of these screens here, I'm honestly just seriously impressed. These games look way better than I was expecting.

I think its because they are franchises I'm used to seeing that jump. I just wasn't expecting it. Mario Kart character models and animation almost looks movie quality.

When the Prime 4 opening cutscene started it looked like movie level.

Oh BTW Netflix has a series called Informa. Was a great watch, seemed like Yakuza.

You must own a 4ktv. It's nuts if you don't.

I couldn't even find a 1080p tv under 32 inches. They're all 4k now.

Director said he doesn't like PVPs and that it will be enjoyable for single player people. There's PVE.

And The Civilization 7 developer said that they were able to match the quality of a mid-range PC on the Switch 2 version.

I was watching an impressions video showing Tears of the Kingdom and BOTW played in handheld.

They were talking about how it looked and I had a mind blowing moment. Played on the Switch 2 screen at 1080p 60fps or more.

The games will look and perform better than they did played in docked mode on original Switch.

That was 900p 30 fps.

Now even handheld will be HDR, 60 fps or higher and 1080p.

Also the smaller screen and higher resolution means the dpi will be so high it will look better than on a tv.

No One Is Talking About The Switch 2's Best Feature HD Rumble 2

When I picked up Mario Kart World for the first time at the Switch 2 Experience, and revved up my car as we were guided towards the starting line, I felt something magical in my hands. The traction of the wheels and the sound of my engine caused the Joy-Con and the system to buzz like it was a motor powering up, prepping to win the DK Spaceport race with me.

I've played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and other racing games where the controller vibrates when you get hit by an item or you make a backflip mid-air. But it's more than that. Improved HD Rumble is here, and it's glorious.

And more Switch 2 games I played — and the more of a 'feel' I got for the console, the Joy-Con, and the Pro Controller — the more I understood. I became convinced that the Switch 2's new HD Rumble is the console's best feature. It's so good.

I might have noticed the traction and the buzzing in Mario Kart, but my first real wow moment with the rumble was while playing Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Every single missile, jump, and collision with an enemy resulted in a different form of rumble or feedback in the Joy-Con. A charge beam will cause a steady vibration in the controller, while missiles are much more explosive when they hit a foe. The variety in intensity made me feel like I was actually Samus (albeit, a clumsy version of Samus), especially when paired with gyro or Mouse Mode.

First-party games were really where the rumble shone brightest, with Drag x Drive syncing the rumbling with your own motions. Dragging the wheels via Mouse Mode, similarly to Mario Kart, the tracking and spin of the wheels on the wheelchair brought with them a distinctive buzz in my palms that felt exactly like rubber tires straining against the floor to push my character forward. The motion and the vibration paired are just another way the immersion felt like some of the best I've experienced on a console.

Maybe my favourite use of the rumble was in Super Mario Party Jamboree, which was completely unexpected. One particular minigame, which I've talked about elsewhere, involved spray painting Bob-ombs. To refill the can, you have to pick up the Joy-Con mouse and shake it. And when you shake it, it feels like a little ball is inside the controller, rattling around, causing the controller to vibrate as you shake.

Switch 2’s genius Welcome Tour is nevertheless going to be a must-have game

The most eyebrow-raising price admission made by Nintendo during the Switch 2’s reveal was that the company plans to charge for the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a special game designed to introduce players to the system.

After playing the Welcome Tour, I can see why Nintendo felt like it could get away with charging a small amount for the game. It seems like an excellent experience, the sort of thing that demonstrates Nintendo at its most zany, experimental best.

These games are lovely. They’re cheeky, and genius.

It’s all lovely. It’s all simple, obviously. These are single-player affairs, and you’re not going to pump tens of hours into this - but it’s a delightful distraction and does a fabulous job of introducing people to the machine. I played demos of top ports and hotly-anticipated new games at the Switch 2 reveal - but the Welcome Tour was my most pleasant surprise. Though I’m baffled that it costs money.

Charging for this feels a tad cynical - even if it’s brilliant. Even if it’s a must-have. Complain as I might… I know I’m probably going to buy this. D'oh. And you probably should too. That’s capitalism, baby!

While playing, I couldn't stop thinking about what Cyberpunk 2077 of all games playing well on Switch 2 likely means for all of the other possibilities. If Cyberpunk 2077 can come to the Nintendo Switch 2 without much in the way of compromises, there's pretty much nothing stopping developers from bringing everything and anything that straddles the PS4/PS5 console release cycle.

Digital Foundry: No DLSS on any Switch 2 games:


As an opener for the deluge of games to come, Switch 2 lands where I would expect it to based on what we've seen so far - but there are two omissions that caught our attention. First of all, Nvidia's DLSS upscaler was expected to be a secret weapon of sorts for the new Nintendo machine and while my colleague, Tom Phillips, tells me that DLSS has been confirmed based on the developer presentation he's seen, we didn't see much - if anything - in the presentation to suggest that DLSS is in play on any of the titles we saw. Perhaps DLSS is more computationally expensive than more vanilla upscalers. Perhaps the mooted 'lightweight DLSS' for Switch 2 isn't ready yet. Or maybe the development tools don't support it yet - we'll just need to wait and see.


So this is weird as people on the net have been talking about DLSS for months and months, saying how it will boost resolutions and framerates. And yet, Digital Foundry has seen no telltale signs of it being used.


So this throws up multiple questions and theories, especially as Nvidia has already told us Switch 2 uses it.  

The first is that it's something that be be implemented close to the end of development. This is exciting because the games already seem to be performing quite well and will only get better once DLSS is used.

The other implication if it's (not) being used is that Switch 2 is already powerful enough to run, so far at least several games known, at 4k 60fps, without DLSS.

The other possibility is that it might be being used and that it's implementation is custom and done so well, that it might not be easy to spot. I know this sounds weird but the guys on famiboards have been hinting at this for a while. As a fixed platform it's literally the only fixed existing hardware where DLSS is being integrated into the game pipeline as its being developed. They may be using something as good as the DLSS 4 transformer model or some lighter version of it.

But last night I started seeing some Switch 2 graphics comparisons with Xbox Series and PS5 games and I saw some things that to me indicated DLSS.

So, if you've watched Digital Foundry DLSS videos in the past you will see how DLSS enhances details, often times making things more detailed than a native resolution. The Streetfighter 6 video I saw had this overly sharpened look all over one of the characters skin. It actually looked more detailed than the PS5 version, but to me looked overly sharpened.

It looked almost overly detailed compared to the other versions and similar to the Control DLSS video DF filmed, where it brought out background detail.

Also when they showed Elden Ring ps5 vs Switch 2, although to me watching on a 720p tv ps5 looked clearly better, there was one moment during a realtime cutscene where the Switch 2 version looked notably better. The hair and scarf of the woman was much better and more detailed. And since they were presented side by side it looks exactly like how DLSS can enhance and smooth out visuals in those areas. It's quite fascinating.

You'll have to forgive me, watching on an old 720p tv at midnight I can't get the links, but I saved some videos to rewatch on the good tv today.

Also, just graphically Switch 2 games in the videos do seem better looking that Xbox Series S games. But the series S has the same CPU as the series X so run at far better framerates so far.

You're going to have this weird situation where series S has a game running at 60fps, but the Switch 2 version will run at 30fps but look visually better and more detailed, I'm guessing because of more RAM and DLSS.

I was right, looks very close to the ps5 version, but you'll notice the bit when they showed Ryu close up his skin looks overly sharpened as does his facial hair. Must be upscaling. Looks a bit weird up close but viewed in gameplay it may give the game overall a sharper look.

Found this article interesting, I thought it was news but it's just speculation but it's interesting anyway.

It says in the summer the Switch 2 release of SF6 may improve framerates and input delay for other systems. Based on DLSS being used for SF6 even if so far DF hasn't seen any evidence of it.

Like the piece says, it's possible switch 2 is powerful enough to run it well without it.

They say capcom could use other scaling tech like FSR to other systems. Wouldn't DLSS only apply to switch 2 and PC though?

Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Cross-Progression Confirmed, Performance & Resolution Detailed

CD Projekt Red has confirmed the Nintendo release will be "fully cross-progression compatible" with versions on other platforms.

The game's social media account has also revealed the performance on Switch 2. It's still improving, but the team is targeting "1080p docked and 720p in handheld mode" with the game running between 30-40 FPS "depending on the mode" (performance and quality).

This same Switch 2 build is reportedly just seven weeks old. It's also been confirmed by CDPR the Switch 2 version will be $69.99 / €69.99 when it launches on 5th June 2025.

It's worth noting how the physical Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 has also been confirmed to be a 64GB game card and will contain all of the game and the expansion with "no download required".
