Seen Fearless, really enjoyed that movie. But wasn't that supposed to be his last movie, Jet Li is very active for a retired man. Pan's Labyrinth was really good as well.

Again if they make these movies accesable to us easily I will watch it but I am not the type to go out of my way to see a movie.

There was this whole confusion over Fearless, they marketed it as his very last martial arts movie. Which it wasn't obviously, it was actually said to be his last martial arts movie using the wushu style.

A lot of these movies are widely availible on DVD across europe and america. I reccomend using one of these rental sites that mails dvds to your door for a flat fee each month. I used to use the UK blockbuster site and the US has one too:

http://www.blockbuster.com/home

For instance I searched for the Host at the US blockbuster site and here it is:

http://www.blockbuster.com/search/movie/mostPopular?keyword=the+host

It's a lot easier than you think to source these films. In fact checking that site you can find just about every movie on my list apart from Mindgame which is a very specialist film.

Western releases are usually belated and I can normally get these films from asia before they even hit the cinema screens in the west.

LOL if you look at the user comments in that link above you have tons of people giving it 10/10 then some people who can't stomach the content giving it 0.

Has anyone here seen Sleuth?  I saw it a short while back at a friends, and it was very stylish and unique.  Apparently it's a remake of a 1972 film, but I haven't seen that version.

Never heard of sleuth is there a trailer and review somewhere? BTW guys give Battle royale 2 a wide berth, it's crap.

Also I've been checking metacritic. For movie reviews it's actually pretty good, it lists extracts and scores for the movie and then the users give their views in the comments section.

"in an alternative japan the youth of the day are behaving so badly that each year to frighten them, the worst school class is chosen, sent off to an island and have The Running Man, explosive-style collars attached to their necks"

That. Sounds. AWESOME. LOL

I saw it in the shops today with rave review snippets all over the front cover. People really love it. Just remember to avoid the sequel like the plague.

I would like your impressions on Tokyo Godfathers. It seems almost strange that it's a very depressing and yet uplifting film at the same time.

I hope people don't want the youtube movies, they are just there so people can get a sample.

Tokyo Godfathers impressions: Okay I need to say one thing about the movie to put it in context: This movie is fucking awesome go watch it now!

When the gay transvestite say: "Do you think God will give miracle of birth to a Homo" I knew than that this movie would be legendary.

The story is about 3 homeless people and they all have their sad reasons to be homeless. During the movie you see why, you really feel for the characters in this movie.

They find a baby and decide to bring it search for the mother themselves. This start an strange adventure, you would never believe.

The story for instance goes in all kind of weird direction. You never know what to expect. And evrytime you see the twist, you will go Ah haa.

Maybe the best one is the reaction my friend gave me through Skype will he was watching it. Halfway he took a break and said: "Damn this movie is awesome."

The story is all kind of loose stories that somehow intwine in an orgasmic awesomeness. I would place this movie in the upper tier of anime. With other like: Spirited Away and Monomoke Hime. Watch it.

I will give an impression of the Millenium Actress later.

Interesting. I like it but I wouldn't put it in the elite like that. I tend not to watch episodic anime so I am curious as to your reccomendations. There is an anime central channel over here but all they show is non stop cowboy bebop and ghost in the shell. I want to watch ghost in the shell from the first episode though.

Cowboy Bebop has some awesome episodes and some duds, the ending was a bit anti-climatic. Well Blood+ and Death note are a good start.

But it depends on what your mood is. Do you want to watch something phylosopical (Ergo "will fry your brain" Proxy) or something romantic (Chobits). Action (Black Lagoon) or a thriller (Monster). Science Fiction (Outlaw Star) or Fantasy(Kiba). I have seen many, so let me know your preferences.

Nothing romantic thanks. Or straight up drama based.

I was looking at Elfen Lied in HMV yesterday. It has a half naked chick on the cover so i was embarrased to buy it. What's it about because the box blurb was confusing. I saw the whole series of Deathnote. I am contemplating buying it but it's pretty expensive and I am wary of lower priced fakes on ebay.

It is about Lucy a diclonus. A human subspecies with horns and telekinetic powers. She escapes naked while killing everyone brutally. Than is shot in her head, falls into the water and loses her memory.

She is picked up by a guy (forgot his name) and he takes her home. Lucy can only say Nyuuu, and is very innocent. The guys from the base are trying to hunt her down, because she could mean the end of mankind.

The show has nakedness and brutal violence, but the story is also very dramatic and sad. Some people could not stand de violence, but kept watching because the story was so interesting. The music is sick too.

Screw your embarrasment and buy it, or watch a few episoded on the internet! Did you get Blood+?
