Well, would the PS3 owners here use this feature at all? I'm just wondering about how much interest there is.

Yeah, I don't care about media downloads on any console, even for free stuff. I'd rather stream a trailer for free off of YouTube instantly than download it through PSN or Live.

I checked out the menu for it once, thats about it. I am not paying their terrible prices nor waiting for it to download into a system that I am quickly running out of room with (remember a bunch of games take up 3-5 G of space at a time).

And you wouldn't believe it, we played Animal Crossing today, GG, Raven and me, with GG hosting and it played like a charm. It's almost miraculous.

This is like measuring everyone's dicks only to watch some dude hung as a fucking donkey whip out his mammoth sized penis in front of everyone else.

WTH, Yoda? If I did the math correctly, that's more than a megabyte per second download speed! GASP

LOL @ Steel.

This is correct

.

And WTF GG, you're upload is under 56K.  Seriously, dial-up service has equal upload and download.

I definately use it myself I download an absolute ton of game videos as well as stream them from Live. I'm dieing for them to hurry up and get Netflix running here in Canada. They have movies available but I've pretty much seen everything that I would be interested in. I'd also really like them to put some TV shows on there as well like they do in the US then I can watch them any time I want.

Dont know how this turned into a selling concepts thread. But it's notoriously hard to sell concepts like physics gameplay or UCC in an advert. Part of the reason these epic looking games sell is because they look like movies, they look straightforward in adverts. People know through years of play that they will be in for a similar experience. How do you sell Katamari?

Well Nintendo was very successful in selling their concepts. Things like Wii, DS, Brain Training, Wii sports, Wii Fit, etc.

Maybe LBP is meant to be a niche game, but at least Sony could try to explain the concept. Like you finished the game, make your won level and play on! Or go to the internet to play your friends level.

 Nyaa

Wii Sports is an easy concept: swing and it works. Wii fit is the same, oh it's another weight loss device but it gives you instructrons from the TV. Brain Age? Oh right, cross words and maths puzzle type stuff only I can write with a touch screen instead of buttons. People know the concept from other things and the novelty aspect of it gets the mass media, proper newspapers and TV magazine shows recommending the games.

LBP needs to be able to explain itself and entice people in a 30 second TV ad.

"oh it's a 2-D platformer, only it uses physics? How? And you can create levels? How? That sure looks complicated.. I can get levels online? How do I hook this thang up to the internets? PS3 costs how much? I thought 2-D platformers were dead? It's out now? But Call of Duty is out and I know that game, I've played the other 4. Shooting stuff is always good."

Hindsight GG, people were saying Brain Age would be difficult to sell! Nintendo proved them wrong!

About LBP, I do not think physics are a selling point to the casual gamers, it is just another buzzword developers are using. Only hardcore care about physics and HD and stuff like that.

But I think they could market the downloadable content and UGC better. Here is my commercial idea.

*Two kids at home playing LBP

*Kid 1

Wow, Papa has sent us a new level

*Shows Level, with some mushy "Sorry I can't be there for your birthday, I love you"

*Kid 2

Wow, MOM dad sendt us something

*Small montage of the kids making a level together with mom, building level with we miss you dad and putting picture of the birthday party in the level

*Dad cries

LBP make you own level and share it with you friends and family!!

There could be other commercials of the same concept, but the kids get new levels from a friend, or a christmas special!

Dunno. It seems to work though from every online game I've tried, even a 32 player MOHH2 match. I've never experienced any sort of lag on online games I've tried.

But I mean, do you to keep these movies. Do you buy the rights to them forever like owning a DVD? So for instance on PS4 would the movie still be yours? How do people feel about digitally owning games vs disc based ownership. Is that a mental block when it comes to downloading movies? Are you just streaming the movies in real time as you watch or do you have to sit there and wait an hour for something to download in advance? How big are the movie download sizes? They are in HD format right?

Huh. Interesting. Did you upgrade your hard drive over 20gb? I think the only way I could ever get into buying and downloading movies would be if I could burn it to a disc and keep it - legally.

And unless it's cheaper I may as well just order a movie online or get a post to your door-dvd rental service.

Yes it's very true that I'm using hindsight. I could never have predicted a few years back that Brain Age would be a big seller. On physics the general gist I got from Capcom' VP was that physics were gameplay changers and could do great things in games design. But that the market didn't seem to respond to it.

I don't think that gamers respond to 2-D games well. Viewtiful Joe didn't have great sales. Imagine if Super Paper Mario didn't have a mario licence? It would be the epitome of a niche game and wouldn't come anywhere near to the 2 and a half million sales it has. It's hard for new IPs, look at the big sellers recently, Fable 2, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, COD 5. Gamers like familiarity, they know the IP or the genre and feel safer laying down cash. LBP is doing everything I love about new games, new IP, new ideas, fantastic presention, creation, sharing. It would a game I would lay down cash for on day 1. But I just don't see your average joe - the guy who doesn't even read reviews - getting this game. It's doing pretty well in sales, just not blowing it out and being the massive success Sony need it to be.

Yeah, that's quite handy for Nintendo. They can make a weird ass game, slap Mario in it and they are guaranteed to sell a million. Heck Soul Calibur 2 sold the most on the Gamecube just because of Link. So maybe they should put Solid Snake Sackboy and Kratos Sackboy on the cover. That might help the sales.

About my commercial, the idea was to inform people what LBP is. That is not clear in the current commercials. There might be people that would like the idea, but have no clue that LBP delivers sharing and building. Sony at the very least could explain what the game is about.

Well the great thing about LBP and PS3 and its huge hard drive is DLC. So the game is ever expanding. That's why Sony say it has legs. They are in the process of feeding the game specific costumes from famous games. Once they get fully kitted out levels based on those games, maybe even ditch the idea of trussed up Sackboys and use actual character models of Snake et al. Well you could be in for something quite special. I can only imagine a Disney level and disney characters, I could relive my Castle of Illusion and Quackshot days.

Holy shit, lol. It's the first time I see anyone so close to having even UL/DL speeds. But yeah, that UL speed gave GG a fucking boner. Also, your ping is insane.
