Well your opinion that opinions can't be stupid is in itself stupid. The opinion, for example, that prayer can heal better than a doctor has caused deaths and endangered others.
Just because something deals in terms that aren't directly quantifiable such as "good" doesn't make a blatantly false "opinion" any less moronic.

If I had never been administered any medicine in my life (for whatever reason) then I would be correct in saying that - same goes for the internet statement, it's not all sweetness and light.

I know what you're saying, but I wouldn't put modern medicine in the same league as the internet - choosing whether to "live or die" vs. "getting my next email" is hardly worth comparing is it.

That's correct. Although I really have to stress that many advances in modern medicine and improvement of healthcare are intrinsically bound to the advent of teh internets. Narrowing the breadth and scope of internet's impact in each and every aspect of our lives to just e-mailing or piracy/torrenting or whatever is doing such an important tool a huge disservice.
Note that Sony Pictures uses Linux render farms.
