Make an argument.

For many years I went with SNES, the Dreamcast, then XBOX-S.

I think for most the consensus is now Xbox 360 or Xbox 1.

Gamecube.  Argument ended.

If only it had had a Z-button on each shoulder...

Wii U controller easily. No other controller has its functionality. Playing a game like Deus ex on it was awesome.

I've never really been passionate about one controller over another. However I will say I never understood the love for the Gamecube or Dreamcast controllers. Neither of them ever felt comfortable in my hands. Particularly the Dreamcast controller. I've always thought that was one of the worst ever made.

I don't thinkk the gamecube controller is the most comfortable, but it's a close second.  The most comfortable controller, not the best, but the most comfortable, has to be the Wiimote and nunchuck.  It's so nice to just be able to hold your hands in any position you want, and the Nunchuck in particular was very comfortable and user friendly.

And you could watch YouTube  and Netflix on it. Something you still can't  do on Switch. And it had a great internet browser. And you could use it in conjunction with your TV while playing a game. And it could control your TV.  It's also the widest and thus least painful on my back to use outside of the Wii or split joy on options. I also think the switch joycons are bordering on Nintendo's worst controller. No dpad, tiny buttons and too small which causes hand cramps. Luckily there is a whole market out there of cheap skins and grips which address the issue.

Dreamcast controller was not good. It was a cool concept with the triggers and the memory card screen. But the execution was bad. Using that controller in any extended period of time killed my hands. Especially games with a lot of trigger use. It was almost as bad as the N64 controller. Also not having a second analog stick when that was clearly the way everyone was going, as well as no Select button...just idiotic.

The Wii remote was also not all it was cracked up to be. It made just as many games control WORSE as it did better. Literally every other game on that console I wished I could just use a Gamecube controller. And it was not comfortable at all when you have to either glide your hand down the remote like you're jerking off, OR just try to break your fingers by stretching down to reach those bottom buttons just to look at a fucking map screen. In the process completely losing the pointer focus on the screen. Fuck that Gamecube add on.

Snes controller was awesome AT THE TIME. Until the Dual Shock came around and eclipsed it in every way.

The Dual Shock was awesome AT THE TIME. Until Sony decided to stick with the same design for literally THREE GENERATIONS and make hardly any changes to it...and the small changes they did make usually made it worse.

Gamecube controller was very comfortable in your hands, but Nintendo forgot to put enough buttons on it.

I've pretty much felt that the Xbox pads have been the best of the best since the Xbox S pad came out on the original XBOX. That was the best pad of the generation. Then, the 360 pad took the design and made actual improvements to it (though the S pad was still better made and more durable) so the Xbox 360 pad was the best controller of it's generation.

Right now...honestly they all have great controllers. The Switch Pro pad is the worst of the three, but it's still great and easily the best controller Nintendo has made. Good size, all the buttons you need...great battery life. The only negative is the shoulder buttons feel like shit compared to the competition. Nintendo has never been good in this area.

It's honestly a tie between the Xbox One pad and the PS4 pad. They're both near perfect. Xbone pad feels better made and more durable like usual, but the PS4 pad feels slightly more comfortable and matches it in every regard. Sony finally made improvements to their design and finally made a PS controller that doesn't seem like it was made for RPG's and Adventure games only. The DS4 is just as good for Shooters, Racing games, and anything else as the Xbone pad is. This is the first generation that this is the case.

PS4, Wii U and Wii in that order for the most comfortable.

The GameCube controller is like a bad draft for the PS4 controller. One of the flimsiest controllers I've used, along with the PS3 and PSX controllers, too.

PS4 is the best controller for modern gaming.  SNES is my personal favorite for 2D gaming.

I found it to be a comfortable controller. Not a big fan of the single supplementary trigger or C-stick though.  Certinaly comfrtable for me.

Ageed on the SNES, it's comfortable for hours on end. I find the PS4 a bit bloated, but still no complaints.

It was surprisingly comfortable.

I loved the Dreamcast at the time, but like the Saturn Nights controller, it has not aged well.

I pretty much agree with everything you've said here Edge.

Love your sig.

As for controllers, I loved the GC and Dreamcast controllers. Gamecube is still one of the most comfortable, but that tiny d-pad and small c-stick messed things up a bit. In terms of buttons don't forget that each shoulder button had 2 clicks for each one, doubling up the inputs availiable.

The most comfortable is probably the Super Nintendo controller.  I would say the PS4 controller is second though.

My favorite controller of all time is the Wavebird controller for the GCN. It took the most comfortable controller in my opinion and made it wireless.

The GCN controller doesn't look comfortable because it looks so tiny but it fits in my hands perfectly.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:

  • SMB Mix-Up! (1AB2-0000-0047-5A7D)
  • Storm the Castle (77BD-0000-00E0-A9C0)
