As you know Google primarily makes their income by collecting data. This is how both search engines and web browsers work. Google however is announcing a charity program in which they will contribute a % of your browsing information to a charity of your choice.

This is there "Chrome for a Cause" event.

When you install the extension you will see a small Chrome icon on the top right corner by the "Customize" menu (the wrench).Every time you open a new tab a percentage of the data's profit can  be donated your choice of 5 charities. At the end of the day you choose what charity you want to donate their profits to.

Install the extension from here and help save the world!

If google (who makes their money from advertising) really wanted to help the world they'd start by paying their taxes rather than using legal, but morally questionable techniques.

link

Whenever I see that they gave 2 million here or there for a charity, I think of the $3.1 billion they steal from the tax payers each year.

That's not what he's referring to.

And as mentioned, blame the GOP for blocking legislation to close the loophole, which is included in a bill to provide health care funding to 9/11 first rescue workers who have conditions related to their work at ground zero.

Well according to this survey, 4 out of 10 Americans believe the world was created 10,000 years ago. That basically means that around 40% of the people in the USA are complete and utter idiots. Idiots vote for idiotic parties i.e. Republicans and the Republicans are the ones that are responsible for the BS in the country. So no I don't think Canada is filled with that much BS. Countries that compete with the USA in the Bullshitlympics are countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, you can guess the rest.

The Democrats aren't that much better these days.

There is no longer a "left" party in America. Just a moderate right and a super right.

The democrats are just idiots. Not utter idiots. There was never a left party in the USA. Only right and extreme right. Nothing like the Socialist or Labour parties in Europe, with the possible exception of Roosenvelt.

This is very much the case. Both parties in the US I would describe as being radically right-wing.  By contrast in Australia I'd describe both federal parties as Center-Left (with most Labor state parties being Center-Right).

And it gets better:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/22/AR2010122204963.html?wprss=rss_politics

Companies have long been allowed to defer U.S. taxes on most money earned by their overseas subsidiaries, but financial activities have traditionally been left out of this exemption because such transactions are too easy to shift offshore, according to Wamhoff and other experts.

But the business lobby gained an exception in 1997 for "active financing," which includes some kinds of insurance and banking income as well as income from financing the sale of products overseas. A heavy-equipment manufacturer, for example, can use a foreign subsidiary to finance the sale of its machines to an overseas customer, and does not have to pay any U.S. corporate income tax on that transaction.

Backers say the measure amounts to simple common sense in the global marketplace, especially since many other countries have lower corporate tax rates and do not attempt to tax foreign income.

The Joint Committee on Taxation, which calculates the costs of congressional legislation, estimates the provision will cost $9.16 billion through 2011.
