So I've played a couple of DQ DS games now, Dragon Slime and DQ4 and they are full of Australian slang and spelling.  Not the obvious stuff, but deeper Aussie slang (like calling someone a "punter").

I've googled on this and found nothing.  This has to be by request, as it is so obvious, so does anyone know what's going on here?

It's Ricky Ponting! Or someone placing a bet? Or an AFL player who likes punting?

Woah,  I know what Punter is, what I wanted to know was what's the deal with the localization.  Why would Squeenix localize these games in ocker-english?

Have you played the equivalent games stateside?  I would wager that's the actual worldwide English localized version, that just happened to be linguistically inclined toward Australia.

Yeah I am playing the US versions (which undoubtably is the only western version).  I thought it was funny that they'd take that tack.  I love it incidentally, it makes me smile quite a bit while playing -- I do think of all the people not familiar with Aussie slang and what they must make of it.
