I am close to 30 hours in, on chapter 6. Still don’t know what to think of this game. I am getting sick of the icon hunting open worlds, I feel like I am just going to places fighting one thing, then going to another point. Side quests are xenoblade quality which is to say they are mostly shit fetch quests than don’t end. The world is beautiful but not that varied, it’s a lot of green and lakes.

The strength of the game is the combat which is fun but even then I feel I don’t have a grasp of it. I know what I am doing but I feel there is little strategy to be had, I normaly head into battle and do minor adjustments when I find what the enemies weakness is. It’s frantic, it’s fun but it is missing the strategic beauty of past FF games. In the older games making uses of spells stacking with one another was key, that is not the case with the serverly limited magic system.

When the story is on (which is is not to often) the game is great. There are some exciting set pieces that are very unique for an RPG, it’s these moments that sets FF apart from other RPGs like Witcher, they don’t dare do battles at this scale.

It’s a great game, it’s fun and interesting but it’s not at the level of past FF games yet.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this game either. It looks good even though it's a bit blurry. I really like the look of the game world. I don't mind the fetch quests and want not. While I wouldn't say the combat is bad and I do like it sometimes it's not really one of my favourites. The magic system is interesting in that you can create a very wide variety of different spell effects, it just doesn't seem like it'll be one of my preferred types. I enjoy doing some of the side activities such as fishing. I'm only on Chapter 3 despite being about 25 hours into the game now because I've been focused on doing side missions and stuff so I really don't have much to say about the story so far. Many aspects do give it that Xenoblade Chronicles feeling.

I must say though that having the soundtracks of all the other Final Fantasy games available to play while you are driving or walking is absolutely amazing.

This game's combat system is kind of annoying me right now. I don't know what I'm missing but there are some enemies that are like 8 or 10 levels lower then me that kind of wrecking me sometimes. Also there is a bit of a lag between when the action prompt comes up to pick something up or talk to someone and when it can register. It's also the same button used to jump so when you run up to someone and it prompts you to talk to them if you press the button as it prompts you to you usually end up jumping instead. Nothing game breaking but it is irksome.

Camera is annoying as well. A lot of the time it'll spin around behind a bush while in battle, obstructing your view.

I play this game and I don't know if I like it. I'm so confused. I'm hooked, I keep wanting to play, I enjoy killing stuff, but the side quests are garbage. The world is a pain to navigate and there is little variety. And when I stop a play session I think back and I am like wtf did I just play?!

This is going to be one of my least favorite FF games.

The more I read of you guys' impressions, the more this game reminds me of my own experience with XCX.

I'd get off my ass but I fear some hobo is trying to get at it.

I think they should make a VR game where a hobo chases and tries to grab your ass.

So we are playing a crappy version of FFXV. Square is planning massive updates which add story cutscenes, add new playable characters to the post game, fix many of the issues with the late release chapters, and  more.

On one hand it's great we get fixes on the other hand wtf?! We paid for a finished product, this is getting ridiculous.h

Here is the statement:

;">Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy XV was able to achieve an amazing accomplishment, shipping 5 million copies worldwide on the release day. I would like to express my gratitude for everyone that has purchased it.

;">Currently I have heard many players around the world enjoying themselves. Players are pleased to be enjoying this new Final Fantasy, as well as the staff, we are really happy.
;">We’ve promised before launching the game that Final Fantasy needed to be complete before it was released. We will continue to update and we are planning to provide a more rich gaming experience to all players around the world. As a gratitude for exceeding 5 million copies, I’ve decided to strengthen the update plan considerably beyond the original plan and inform you of a concrete road map.

;">These are updates to make the Final Fantasy XV gaming experience more rich, and for longer playability, updates based on requests from players after the release, and in addition to DLC development reported previously. They will be given for free for the short term, mid-term, and long-term.

;">Final Fantasy XV Update Roadmap

;">Short-term goals
;">First, we will update the experience of Chapter 13’s gameplay. For that reason, we are undertaking many enhancements such as increasing the power of the ring’s magic. We will inform you of the details of updated content at a later time.

;">Mid-term goals
;">Updating the production of the second half of the game, further enhancing the experience of the story. For example, we are planning to add event scenes where “What happened to Ravus?” was from. In addition to the event scenes, voice responses and localization work to all languages will occur so we will work firmly on this as a mid-term goal. Details of the plan will be announced once it’s decided.

;">Long-term goals
;">We will make it possible to use important characters that appeared in the main game as playable characters. We will also consider adding an avatar system to create original characters. In addition to this, we will continue to actively update so that various players can enjoy Final Fantasy XV for a long time.

;">Others
;">After clearing the game, you can carry your progress into a New Game. Finishing it at a low level, an invincible suit, we will offer various items that extend the range of play. Fonts displayed can be enlarged for easier reading.
;">For the already announced DLC, it is planned to be released as originally intended.

;">FFXV Holiday Pack
;">FFXV Booster Pack
;">FFXV Episode Gladiolus
;">FFXV Episode Ignis
;">FFXV Episode Prompto
;">FFXV Online Expansion Pack: Companion

;">On behalf of the staff and all players around the world, we hope you will enjoy Final Fantasy XV even more. Thank you for your continued support for Final Fantasy XV and the Final Fantasy series.

;">FFXV Director Hajime Tabata

Wow. This generation has really proven that there is no benefit to getting a game the day it is launched. Those days are completely over.

So I guess the new question to ask is, how many years will it really take until Final Fantasy 15 is finished?

Hironobu Sakaguchi where are you know?

Final Fantasy has gone wrong somehow!

The men at Square, the men of power

Are loosing control by the hour

This is the time

This is the place

So we look for the future

But there's is too much DLC to go round

Tell me why, this is a land of pain & confusion

Ok I will stop now!

Now on chapter 6 and I seem to have come to a better grip with the combat. It still feels like a bit of a clusterfuck at times though, usually when there's more then five enemies and mainly when the camera spins around behind a tree or bush. I don't particularly care for how your magic spells can affect your party members. I get that it adds a strategic component but it's annoying nonetheless. I think the game world looks great and I like to just wander around and explore however it feels a bit difficult to traverse it when you have specific places that you want to go. By now I'm usually pretty where different points in a game world are in relation to each other but with a few exceptions I'm just not there yet with this game. So far the story is quite ho-hum and just doesn't seem to hold my interest as much as previous Final Fantasy games. Eating to gain temporary stat boosts is interesting and something I need to utilize more often.
