Perhaps it's down to me being European. We're used to everything being discussed at length before anything happens. 72 hours is inconceivable to me. Heck, I'd probably still call 72 days 'rash'.
That said I really don't like that he did this without Congressional approval. Regardless of how disgusting the chemical attacks are in Syria, there's a reason we have a chain of command.
I take a little comfort in knowing our military and intelligence communities have probably the best leadership they've had in a couple decades. I think they know we've got a nutjob in the White House that they need to keep in check.
Hershey bars are the reason we have fat cunts walking around like zombies.
Why be squeamish about chemical weapons? The acceptable ways of killing people in a war are rarely more humane than the unacceptable ones. Starved to death, trapped in rubble, going through surgeries in an unsanitary hospital after being shot or hit by shrapnel, can be worse than dying in a chemical attack, or living with its injuries.
I honestly don't see any difference whatsoever in life in the real world now or life in the real world back in 2008 when Obama was going to CHANGE THE WORLD. Maybe this is because I have zero faith in politics and recognize that they're all a bunch of greedy sleazeballs, or maybe it's because I don't swallow the bullshit that the joke of a media (who have become just as bad as the politicians) spew out there every day.
They're all the same...puppets for the multi-billionaires. Doesn't matter who's in there because the whole system has been corrupted and broken down. But I hope everyone continues to keep thinking if THEIR guy gets in he's going to be the modern day Jesus and turn this into paradise on earth.
As a non-american, who might be musjudging the situation, it seems to me that Trump is changing more than any president before him, and things that will have noticable effects on the US and the world for decades. He also seems to be using populistic language to convince the masses that his ideals, which are purely economic and for the better of the very rich eg himself, will benefit Joe Average.
I just hope that the downsides of his policies start to show through during the next 3 years so he can't keep up declaring how he's making the US great again when he's going for a second term.
As far as I'm aware Obama continued the ramping up of draconian security policy at home and abroad, so in many ways Trump feels like a continuation of that. Not to mention that, in a completely different way, both presidents come with a huge perception of racial baggage and consequences. I wonder if Trump could have been elected if Obama didn't precede him?
Perhaps the difference between the democrats and republicans is that the latter advertise such policies because they think it suits their voter base, whereas the democrats don't because they think it doesn't. But they're actually still instituting the same sort of policies.
This is BS by someone ignorant on the matter, though. The only period of American politics I know much about is the late 90s and early 00s, and that's only in the very limited context of the Yugoslav and Kosovo interventions.
I will say this. Domestically things haven't changed at all, but that's mainly because every big change he's tried to push through in Congress has failed. The new tax plan could effectively fuck up a lot, but now that they're trying to attach some changes to the affordable care plan to it, I think it will also ultimately fail. Any chance he has to be an effective leader at home is always hindered by his bizarre need to undo everything Obama did.
The real damage that Trump is doing is going to be abroad. Whether it's getting into Twitter wars with North Korea or acting like a buddy to Putin, he's making moves that just make him and ultimately us look stupid. He's taking a lot of steps that are moving us backwards on the world stage. And while I've always thought we needed to back off on being the world's police, he's moving us from that position to being the world's drunken uncle that talks about how much he hates brown people.
This new policy of how to deal with illegal immigrants is all kinds of wrong. A new low. Not just for America, but for the civilised western society as a whole. Immigration is a tough topic, but splitting young kids from their parents and placing them together, even with proper care, is never a good policy. If this has been done to create leverage for Trump to build his wall, it only shows how he has no respect for anyone else but himself and lacks even basic emphatical skills.
Emphatical skills? This policy seems to be as emphatic as it is repugnant. Did you mean empathetic?

Yes, that's the one. Sadly the days in which I would look up such words in advance are over.
I don’t care what your thoughts are on immigration in the U.S., the separation of children from their families is disgusting. I’m fearful about where this will lead us.
I think the sheer numbers of it is scary. Wasn't it like 2000 children? That's kinda crazy.
The only real retaliation I think we'll see is the rumored Russian owned video of Trump peeing on a bed with hookers.
