I have been meaning to ask you guys this question for a while now and this seems an appropriate thread to do it without starting a new one.  What is everyone's favourite burger (from a fairly mainstream burger joint.)

While I was at Dulles airport last week I got to fulfil a longtime ambition of mine which was to try a Five Guys Burger!

It was good.  It was very good but was it the best ever?  No.

Number one is still the In-n-out double double!

The one I have yet to try, which I would really like to, is White Castle.  I don't even know if the franchise still exists or if it's just the stuff of legends.

It's square like the Wendy burger ... which is also among my favourites

I've always found Five Guys to be overrated.  It's a good burger, but it's not remarkable.  On the otherhand their bacon and cheese hotdogs are great.

My favorite burger is from Jack In The Box, specifically their Sourdough Jack. It's amazing.  That and a couple of their fried tacos and I'm set. Unfortunately they don't have locations in the eastern half of the country so I only get them once a year when I visit my parents.

Whataburger has really good burgers too, though the nearest one is still 2 hours from me. I'm pretty much stuck with McDonald's and Burger King around here.

I don't recall ever seeing a Jack In The Box restaurant.  Not sure about Whataburger but probably haven't seen that either.  I'm putting those on my list for sure.

I think the Whopper is decent.  But I'd be hard-pressed to find anything to order from the McDonalds menu (probably coffee, or the McFlurry with smarties)

Jack is a big franchise in the West (California mainly) with some presence in the Southwest. Whataburger is huge in Texas and the Southwest but outside of Northern Florida, it really doesn't exist elsewhere.

Beetroot is God's way of making up for giving us life.  I love beetroot and peanut butter sandwiches (toasted of course).

So tonight I made lentil bobotie.  It's not by any means disgusting.  It's gorgeous, delicious and most probably very healthy too.  I just wanted to post a photo of it somewhere and as far as I'm concerned this is the de facto VGP food thread.

Mostly green lentils, hence the name.  Also onion, garlic, carrot, apple, raisins, chutney, curry spices and a few other things I'm probably forgetting.  For the topping egg, milk, bananas and bay leaves
