As far as the podcast goes I think you should first try posing it as a more serious question. I mean it wasn't asked in a sarcastic way, but it did seem rather minor, and sarcastic comments are to be expected here. 
If you brought it up again and didn't get much better then I'm not really sure. It's also possible that they didn't really care much about the name in which case you could have just posted it with a different name. if people didn't like it I'm sure they shoudlh ave said.
As for the structure I personally think that should be more down to the host and the people on it at the time. I don't know what happened with the last Euro podcast but on the previous one it did have its own flavour because of the cartoon/television discussion for exampel, and didn't do news the same way.
So as for the future I think you should definitely make your opinion or suggestions clear, and possibly louder if the initial reaction doesn't take it seriously. But I wouldn't want a tyranical takeover of death camps and lynchings!
I told you seriously, the Euro podcast should be called the Man-hunk Edition.
I like podcasts at an hour. I think you guys should do an experiment, give each person 1 minute to talk about a topic and try and get through as much as possible in an hour. Just as an experiment. 
- Consistent posting days help build listenership. If people know they can count on a new VG Podcast every Tuesday (or whenever) it helps drive consistent traffic. That means (unfortunately) that as a group the podcasters have to get a regular rotation of participants and recording schedule.
- As for length, I always like 90 minutes. Enough time to be conversational, but not boring.
- Having the two podcasts cover the same stories does get a but dull. Particularly if it is coverage that other podcasts have already covered extensively. If you are going to alternate weeks though then that should not be as much of an issue.
- On content, I like the focus on the top news stories, or top new topic in the forum. It drives the conversation back to the community and encourages new posts. Maybe a direct enocuragement to our listeners to register. Once user leveling has been put in place you could give out a keyword that could be entered to give the user a level boost (to encourage them to listen to the podcast).

Should I leave best alone, should I take over if I feel so, should I only take control of site features and technical issues or something else entirely?"
Clearly in a non-profit voluntary environment where only one person is able to carry the work load there is a imbalance between responsibility, reward and recognition.
Ultimately, this is your web site. We are participants in the direction it takes, but you control everything about it. Yes, we have input, but it is your site. No one has the ability to change or kill it other than you. No one has invested as much time in it as you. So I think that is your answer as to your role. If people don't like something, they won't stick around, if they do like somethings about the site they will.
In regards to the thing that sparked this whole thing off, though, I'll say that you probably should have said something earlier. I know you could well have been ignored, but if a handful of people posted list threads, and in the list threads, and only two were oposed to it (openly) and didn't actually say anything about until pretty much everyone had posted one, then it's probably fair to say that the majority of the people didn't actually mind lists being posted on the forum.
It's not like it would probably have become a regular thing anyway, given that they were all related to the end of the year. They also definitely helped with activity, the first few lists anyway.
I know I should have said this originally, though, don't get me wrong. Ah well.

TBH you need to ask your questions more clearly about any role you want or not on the site. i.e with specific regards to moderation or whatever.
The moderation thread that Punk made ages ago asks the questions more succintly.
It does seem the lock came out of nowhere with Foolz blog.
And I agree that a top games thread should have been made instead of threads for each person.
You sound kinda of stressed. I would reccomend maybe you ask in a thread who votes that this should be moved to a blog or whatever and if the votes are there, move it?
On the other hand the forums can be kind of empty sometimes so having these lists has actually served a purpose and given us lots to talk about.
Those consistently involved in the podcast Foolz and Dvader, and of course Darthhomer with the stellar job hosting, and Iga and GG finally getting the Euro podcast off the ground, which I myself personally failed to accomplish. Small things such as Aspro inputting suggestions to improve the site spurring me to actual do some work. The community aspect is the site. That I happen to be more adept to the technical side than the social side makes my contributions no more pronounced.
That said, I have leveraged my position on the technical aspect of controlling the functionality of the site to push some faux authority to get things done. I mostly went solo on the name choice and visual redesign, and the final word on some features. It's something I've been mixed on and figured I'd bring up here.
Communication drives things forward, and I certainly don't have the imagination to do things on my own. So naturally there would never be a point where I would consider or even want to be authoritarian here. That said, what I need to ask about is that ability to make a decision and go with it. What spurs me to ask is something rather small, and that being the branding of the Euro Podcast. My attempts to push that have gone absolutely nowhere and honestly I'm a bit frustrated.
I'll quickly explain on what I was getting at with the podcast as to understand. While one goal was to have a separate time slot to alternate, another was to have something a bit different. A different cast most of the time, different content, etc. The Press Room has to cover all the important news as the primary focus as it's the centrepiece of the site, whereas there doesn't necessarily need to be as large of a portion dedicated to it on the Euro podcast. Similarly another consideration, though just a consideration, would be to potentially have podcasts of different lengths -- I know some prefer a podcast under an hour, others longer. Of course a difficulty with that is I wouldn't typically be directly involved, so I do feel out of place making input on what you should be doing. So trying to get things started with a proper name for the podcast got me sarcastic remarks at best.
This is where I would simply step in and say "Here's the new name, and here's a general structure for the podcast going forward." However, as stated prior, this is not my site and that is not my podcast. So while I could probably get away with it, I wouldn't be so brazen. What do you think is best for my role with this kind of thing in the future? Should I leave best alone, should I take over if I feel so, should I only take control of site features and technical issues or something else entirely?
