NINTENDO DOWNLOAD: PAPER WORLDS AND INFECTIOUS RHYTHMS DRIVE NEW NINTENDO DOWNLOADS

Aug. 23, 2010

Rules   are made to be broken - or at least bent a little, right? This week,   the latest downloadable games for the Wii™ and Nintendo DSi™ systems   offer some fun ways to defy convention. The award-winning And Yet It Moves for the WiiWare™ service invites players to mess with the laws of   physics and turn their worlds upside-down. In the imported NES™ cIassic UFROURIA™: THE SAGA,   you'll need to switch between characters and do whatever it takes to   complete a challenging quest. On the Nintendo DSiWare™ service, Rytmik lets you create your own musical compositions, while G.G Series NINJA KARAKURI DEN lets you play by your own rules as a stealthy ninja. If there's one   rule you shouldn't break while using Nintendo systems, it's this one:   Have a blast!

Well this isn't such a bad week.  Uforia is one of those games I've heard about for years but never actually seen.  No idea if it's good enough, but I suppose it's nice for Nintendo to even be throwing the VC a bone at this point.

And Yet It Moves... that could be good.  Good early word. Looks good anyway.

Ugh. I never even heard about this Ufouria game plus it was on the NES which is generally a bit too far back for me to go, I prefer SNES and up for my classic gaming. Doesn't look like anything that interests me much this week.

I've heard lots of good things about Ufouria on Youtube. It's basically a light-hearted Metroid-style game. It looks like a fun game.

Here's a video review of Ufouria (Note: Skip to 1:30 for the gameplay/review portion):

Ufouria never came out in the US, so I never got a chance to play it!

I was debating whether or not I was going to JUST when I saw your post!

I am trying to recuperate from the surgery and subsequent visit I had with the Doctor this morning...

...I need something simple and distracting to occupy me.

This might just be the thing!

It's a Metroidian adventure-style game starring characters with names like Bop-Louie and Freeon-Leon...

How could I resist?!

Just so happens I had 100 left-over Nintendo Points --AND-- a 500 Free Point card from when I purchased Sin and Punishment...

...it just had to be done!

Funny thing though: I haven't used any older VC games on this particular Wii yet, so I started the game, heard the music, but was greeted with a black screen! I had to go fish-out my old "VC Games on an HDTV" fix from years ago!

Well worth it!

It totally has that NES, 8-bit Music style. Two enemies on the screen and one does an attack... you get slowdown... Colors tend to fade in and out. You need to adjust to 2 buttons and heavy use of the Select Button...

...but you know what? NONE of that matters! You hear the music, read the absurdity of the "plot" and you are instantly an 8-year old, sitting in front of your NES again and a big, stupid grin creeps over your face nonetheless!

I say GET IT!

Damn I almost played an NES era game that you have not. Yeah it looks good, I have those points lying around, I love these sort of open world side scrollers.

Is there anything that costs 300 points on WiiWare/VC? Even DLC of games like My Life as a King/Darklord? I don't know what to do with them...

Yes. You can get DLC for the FF Chronicles games, and you can buy chapters for games FFIV the After Years.

Yeah but which ones are good and will round at a nice 300 pts? Don't have After Years, I wanted it but it's 2 expensive to get it whole, not gonna pay so much for a SNES title that isn't even rare since it's new and digital...

Yeah, I don't blame you for not throwing down for The After Years. I loved FFIV and even enjoyed what I played of the first 3 chapters but I just didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth.

As far as My Life as A King, 300 points can be used to buy some dungeon packs. Not sure its going to be really worth that much though. It adds extra content, but nothing super dramatic or amazing.
