I know some people would argue that Monster Hunter isn't really an RPG, but it doesn't matter. The point is, Sony has a lot to thank for Monster Hunter keeping the PSP alive in Japan. I'm thankful too! Because we're now getting a solid line-up of JRPGs swarming to the PSP all because of its success in Japan...again, all thanks to Monster Hunter! The best news is that a lot of these new games are getting localized. I'm very excited!

Here are the games that have been confirmed for the west!

(Stolen from GAF...they won't mind Nyaa )

Also, I left some of the more obscure and "meh" ones out. But all the good ones are listed!

God Eater Burst

I included some games that are currently available like Lunar and Persona 3 Portable.

But that's a real solid line-up! I know the DS already has a great library of JRPGs and there are still awesome ones on the way like:

  • Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light
  • Etrian Odyssey III
  • Lufia Rise of the Sentrils
  • Golden Sun Dark Dawn
  • Dragon Quest VI
  • Pokemon Black/White
  • Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded
  • Radiant Historia

But the PSP has been catching on with great titles and a lot of support from the big guns!

I think both systems are in their twilight years but it's good to see them go out with a bang!

Oh man.  There goes my gaming budget.  I wish they'd release all the Y's at once in some glorious collector's edition.

I want (will get) all of those except for Lord of Arcana, Phantasy Star and God Eater Burst.  I'm going to save this post as a favorite until I can fill up my amazon wishlist.

I'm just so excited that these games are coming over! And yeah, I share your sentiment about gaming budgets. I'm sure these are going to be like $40 a piece!

Time to save up now!

I'm excited for God Eater and Lord of Arcana, but not Phantasy Star. You're not into Monster Hunter type of games, Aspro? I can understand that since it's mostly a multiplayer experience. But I'm a sucker for them so I'll get them regardless of not having friends to play with! LOL

I'm only interested in the next MH (if I'm not too burnt out on that stuff, and they don't announce a Tri G title either), Parasite Eve (maybe, I loved the first, but hated the second, but some of the footage of this one remind me of Peace Walker boss battles, ie, Monster Hunter with guns) and Valkyria Chronicles II. Also Gladiator Begins (with some of the games in your list, that one fits in just as well even if it's not really an RPG), I finally played the US demo and it's really, really awesome (but the fucking boss they put in there is insanely hard, and apparently only appears in the full game way later, it kinda sours the experience with the demo), but I don't know if they're even bringing that in Europe. I also won't be getting any until they're cheaper, either with a special offer or after they hit PSP Essentials on PSN though, PSP games are too expensive. I don't really care for the MH rip offs until one of them does something actually special with the formula, Peace Walker style. Capcom should do a portable (or Wii) Lost Planet that's actually great and sticks to the formula more, but with guns. My PSP's analog nub is also going bonkers sometimes (I can temp fix it often) so I don't know, I won't spend on a new system if it breaks down.

Good looking line-up for RPG gamers.  Be curious to see how well most of them turn out.

The pad came off my first PSP, but I still use the stick just fine.  I prefer the PSP2000/3000 form factor though.
