With titles such as The Conduit or...Dead Space Extraction.

Huh?

“We have near-term, mid-term and long-term opportunities,” the exec told CNET. “The near-term opportunity is the consumer who owns a PS3 or an Xbox 360 and has been bad-mouthing Wii to their friends. We can reach that consumer with games like The Conduit or Tiger Woods with Wii MotionPlus.

“We think we [can] win over the Halo audience with something like The Conduit, a multi-player, online, shooting experience, or Dead Space Extraction. And you know what? Once those people buy into Wii, they'll go buy Mario Kart or Wii Fit Plus."

Ummm...ok Reggie. LOL

Well in all fairness they might buy Kart.  I don't know anyone who has played that and didn't have a good time with it.  But I question what kind of weed he's smoking to come up with the Wii Fit Plus conclusion.  Apparently President of Nintendo paychecks can get you the good stuff.

But truth be told the "Halo audience" won't touch Nintendo stuff anyway.  It would make them shrivel up and die.

LOL I really hope they dont think that.

First of all they will never reach that audience without a system that can have modern graphics, the general population wants their games to look nice, want to be able to show it off. Secondly, no true online plan means it will never take off. Halo is huge cause of multiplayer, online is a huge aspect of that. And then there is the whole issue with those games looking generic and probably just being good rather than excellent.

Nintendo doesn't need the Halo audience. They need to appeal more to their own hardcore fanbase. Surprisingly, they did just that last week, but they could--and should--do even more.

The Halo audience isn't going to spooge over the Generic-duit. Or an on rails Dead Space. Although they would freaking love House of the Dead Overkill. If they had the balls to try it.

It's a little mature for the Halo audience though Nyaa

Bwahahahahahaha .... umm .... no. I generally think Reggie is a pretty cool dude but he's a bit out in left field on this one. Perhaps if they really beef up the Wii 2 to more comparable specs to what the Xbox 720 or PS4 might be plus upgrade their online service.

Boy that's a load of PR.
If their mid term goals are to get 360 players, I don't see any sign of that. I don't even know how that would even be a possible goal.

As an aside, and this from someone that just likes to play an occasional fps and hasn't much since the ps2 and gamecube - its a big disconnect now. It seems like I'm a bit of an oddity that I don't care that much about graphics, or leaderboards or achievements or even speech capability. Shooting and basic multiplayer is all I'm interested in.

I dont think they really need the Halo audience with the success they have, not only in hardware but also with many big franchises that sell as much as Halo anyway.

The only real need is a perceptive one with the media harrassing them to. But on the other hand, the Halo gamer doesn't want to Halo on Wii. They want to mario on Wii.

Ironic that he says this considering all the attempts that Sony and MS are making to try and appeal to Nintendo's "casual audience."

In other words, Sony and Microsoft couldn't give a shit about you, so you shouldn't care about them!

Which is not at all what you were saying. >_>
