Activision (Destiny) won out over Zampella (Titanfall)?

Having not played either the zeitgeist was initially impressed with Titanfall but then fell off the cliff, but Destiny has the secret sauce?

Yes Destiny will be CoD levels of big. Meanwhile Titanfall is struggling around 3 million sold.

The problem is CoD with mechs is still CoD, so why would you stop playing CoD just because you can play CoD with mechs?

If Halo was multiplatform and still relevant, then Destiny might face a similar issue.

Destiny is just a better game. Titanfall is cool, but its still as Foolz said, COD with mechs. It doesn't feel like something new. Destiny feels like a next-gen game. And its not just a multi-player deathfest, which also helps.

I think the fact that Destiny has a sp campaign helps push it past Titanfall.

The polish is starting to come off and will continue to. Perhaps by design.

Yeah, but it's not just Halo multiplayer, it has layers.

It had the full force of Activision at it's back, it has to be better (as opposed to something EA barely subsidized -- they essentially paid for setting up Respawn).

Makes you wonder what Activision could do to some of the Japanese studios if let off the leash (applying their business and development acumen).

I am not an Activision fanboy, but sometimes, you do have to be in awe of absolute power being applied.

Its all Bungie, not sure what Activision has to do with it outside of giving them an unlimited budget. But MS could have done that too.

^This. Activision gave them an unlimted budget. EA is not capable of that, and nor is Microsoft (evidently).

Thus my mention of, "applying their business...  acumen".

Activision, has the business acumen to pick and then stand by solid bets. MS and EA have the cash (albeit EA a little less) to commit just as much to something but they lack the acumen because of their personality-less corporate structure that rewards people who don't take risks and punishes those that do.

MS is improving on this front, but at this point their culture is so entrenched I don't see them being able to turn that aspect of their strategy around.

Yep, thus the speculative "might".

Oh yeah Destiny will do much better then Titanfall although I think Titanfall still did well enough for itself and is still an excellent game. I think what hurt TF was that the game just needs more 'meat' to it. An sp campaign certainly would have helped if only to have nullified all the naysayers and those put off prior to launch. A horde-type mode along with more custimisation options would have benefitted it the most for long-term playability. More customisation is making it's way into the game via updates although I think the minds of the consumer has already been set for this game. Also the 'hooks' for this game ie. prestiging, leveling up, etc., just weren't quite as appealing as say a game such as CoD. By the way calling TF simply CoD with mechs is an unfair and improper comparison as it's more differing then that. Destiny will launch on 4 systems and already looks to be HUGE judging by how the Ghost edition of the game pre-orders are selling on eBay for $300 - $600 or more and one seemingly sold for over $1,000.

I do think the criticism that Titanfall received for lack of sp campaign is unfair, but I think it came down to resources.

Also the open beta was genius and most people that played it are now hooked.

Yeah, if you have confidence a full demo can work wonders. They know that from COD2 on 360 back in the day.

Both are junk, but Desiny is still better and will sell more.
