I wanted to do a thread like this for a while but I was put off because not many people here are actively playing this here. And most of the posts will have to be directly done via the Wii U itself. I will also have to demo whatever map is in the rotation. If you have any useful tips, post em with pics by hitting the HOME button - then internet browser, then use abload.de to upload pics.

FLOUNDER HEIGHTS

Now I wouldn't recommend you use a gatling gun on this stage - I do occasionally because I want a challenging experience. One of the perks of having a long range gun is painting lines for your team to easily ascend vertical surfaces. You'll want to do it here.

This is a great ingress point if you have the inkstrike special. The climb spot is fairly well hidden and you can inkstrike the area before going up.

If you manage to get up here, this is a great chokepoint where enemies will always pop up. Dominate this section.

In the final minute you'll want to make your way here on the enemy side. Jump down left, run along the grating, shooting the ground below.

Weapons to avoid on this level- rollers, blasters. Best to use short range machine guns

Using a long range gun you can kill respawners from here

WAREHOUSE

See the path I've marked? That's crucial. When the other team is dominating you can bypass them, loop around the back and shoot them in their asses. Works especially well against snipers using a roller + Kraken and you can lay down beacons to make it easier. TOP TRICK - Use a Squelcher with the tracking special move, stay on the flats. Kill mercilessly.

Throw a sprinkler here - look at how much area it covers and its hard for the enemy to shoot it. You can then stand up top here and hold everyone back. Another tip, seekers will travel over the black ramps. Seekers are also sometimes the only way to spot the enemy when your turf is overun.

Where do you think I'm standing here? Well, you're wrong. Using the route I showed in pic 1 I am now on the enemy side waiting for fools to come around the corner for easy kills.

PIRANHA PIT

This is a large level and the best way to traverse it quickly is with seekers.

This spot and the same spot on the opposite side are crucial in stemming the flow from the baddies. Try to hold these areas.

Fire a seeker from here, it goes onto the conveyor belt and can get you deep into enemy territory.

Try using a gattling gun or sniper rifle here to dominate this section.

Fully ink this ramp so you can ascend completely hidden

Or do this to avoid killpoints.

When you come down here the best thing to do is immediately paint your escape route to the right.

The enemy ramp is your target, go up, fling yourself off, try and loop back.

All my tips and I got my ass handed to me on Piranha pit this morning.

There is definetly a Japanese lag advantage, I literally had people appear then disappear and re-appear somewhere else a second later. I got killed of course. But the matchmaking was kicking my ass. I got put on a team with two blasters and a sniper, meanwhile the other team had no blasters? Then I got put into 3 man teams or 4 then someone disconnected right at the start of the match.

Terrible. I hate playing with Japs sometimes. Of course there are the level 50 cheater/babies who still play with the Splattershot jr so they can get cheap kills with the bubble shield. Complete tossers.

Also on the Splasomatic vs NZap, apparently Splashamatic wins every time. WTF?

Since I haven't played in ages (but still feel the itch to get back into it) the only tip I have is squid jumping to get into enemy territory.  If timed correcty you can jump out of your ink, shoot the area right in front of you, go back in squid form, jump out again and repeat.  If you have enough starting momentum you can keep this up for quite a distance and it'll take you into enemy territory in no time.

Wtf, I don't get it. You mean normal jumping in squid form, not super jumps from spawn points?

So you mean firing in a straight line, inking along, popping out with a jump, continue shooting repeat right? That's done a lot at the start of matches.

A bit difficult to describe, but here it goes:

  1. Squid along in your own ink.
  2. when you reach enemy ink, jump out in squid form
  3. press fire once before you hit the ink, you'll create a dot of ink, go back into squid form
  4. dive into the dot and immediately jump out again
  5. repeat step 3 and 4 to cover great distances in enemy ink, fast

it only works in straight lines though as you need to keep momentum.

I've never done the dot before. I usually jump up and shoot ahead in a straight line, ink along it then repeat.

So since I'm here already I'll outline one of my cheat moves - I noticed level 50 japs were using the Splattershot jr and I saw why. I started doing it when I was in the mood.

Unlike the Kraken, using the bubbleshield when someone is close makes it very easy to make kills. Your ink also replenishes automatically and the gun itself is good at close range and inks a lot too.

It's especially good when maps are overun and you have a bubble shield charged and a full tank of ink. You can wade into areas not having to worry about where people are hiding, fire till your tank is empty then bubbleshield and continue firing. Also if you touch someone on your team they become invincible too.

Yeah, but the way I described is much faster if you're not interested in inking, but getting from point A to B.

Been going back into Splatoon in between BF1 sessions, since Pokken is too poverty Tekken for my liking. Game is still a genuine blast, not fond of the idea that Splatoon switch is just gonna be an upgraded port, but I hope that translates into significant additions/improvements to Spla2n. Also that they are max scumbag about it and call it "Spla2n", because why not? you know?

Another tip - Force yourself to use different weapons

So since I wanted variety and challenge I forced myself to use different weapons, even ones that I sucked at.

Then going back to use my old staples I found that I adapted my approach to levels around the weapons I experimented with. It gives you a sense of why and how people play with certain weapons. For instance, why do snipers position where they do? So you know where they will pop up when you play against them.

Use decoys

What are decoys? Decoys are anything you can put down on the field which distract the opposing team. They are useful because the enemy will try and shoot them and when they do, they are not looking or aiming at you. You can use this moment to splat them. Decoys are beacons or sprinklers.

Sprinklers are particular good as you can put them in awkward spots and high places, which means people will have to look up and change their view to shoot the down.

I would like them to raise the level cap from 50.

I've been maxed out for so long.

You can actually throw sprinklers up so high no one can shoot them without a squelcher/gatling/sniper rifle.

I can't master that move you described. Don't have the dexterity for it.

I see you didn't disagree with my assessment of your character?  Nyaa

Here's a video explaining how to do it: https://www.reddit.com/r/splatoon/comments/35ecxo/splatter_jumping_advanced_technique_guide/ I can do it faster than that though.
