So far this has been one of the best years for gaming that I have ever seen. Huge monster games have come out and we are not even at September.  The summer, a usual time of drought has sprung to life with a plethora of downloadable games that give us such a vareity of gameplay. Downloadble games have made this summer an absolute joy and I hope this trend continues.

Just look at the crazy mix of genres I have played through downloadable games.  I have a remake of an NES action/adventure classic, a high score junkies platformer in pixeljunk Eden, one of the best horror games in years in Siren, a new chapter in the Ratchet and Clank saga, an nice add-on for one of the best old high score shooters in Stardust HD.  And that's just PSN, so many amazing games Sony and company have put out these last view months on PSN, bravo.  Then there is the 360 which this month went crazy with abig game every week.  Geometry Wars 2, man I want that so bad. Braid, I played the demo, platforming puzzle sexiness, instant buy for me. Wii hasn't has many good games on Wii Ware or VC lately but there was Strong Bad which is a very funny and fun point and click adventure game.

I have played so many awesome games, some in genres and styles I have not played in years.  When would I have ever believed I would be getting NES gameplay goodness redone in beautiful 3D graphics, its crazy the times we live in and I want more!! More craziness, like The Last Guy coming out next week on PSN, its like a pac-man/Snake like game that takes place on google earth screen made by three guys from India in a shack with a goat, who would have ever thought anything like that would ever come out, well cause of downloadable games its possible. Soon we are getting an NES sequel to Mega Man, imagine if you went back in time a few years and tell yourself that was going to happen, you would say thats BS. Thats the magic of this downloadble game craze.

This is why this the most awesome gen ever, I know there is a lot crap we put up with on the hardware side but software, never have I seen such a beautiful mix of games coming out at one time.

I'm glad you're enjoying this gen, dvader.

Personally, it's been the worst gen ever for me. Sure there's been some cool stuff here and there, but most of it just doesn't interest me at all. *sigh*

@Iga: Super Mario RPG wasn't very good. Then again, none of Square's games are. Nyaa

@Raven
I would not know, seeing as this is the first time we get the game in Europe!

Yeah, first time getting the game in europe that has to count for something. Without DLC this would never happen.

I really like downloadable stuff, I hate the pricing in general or the requirements i.e hard drive for 360, lack of wireless, lack of space on Wii etc.
