Dvader said:Complicated answer. Is it better from a technical point of view, absolutely. It has better level design, it never repeats itself, it has more variety, better music, more individual levels, and more content. So yeah its a better game.
Does it leave me with that same level of joy and wonder that the first Galaxy did, not quite. The first Galaxy will always be the reinvention of 3D Mario, this is just a follow up with great ideas but nothing so drastically different that it captures that feeling of something totally new. Plus there are a few things that bug me about the game which I detailed above but that has spoilers so you can read that later. Every thing that is a complaint is really a complement cause its me wanting more, I wouldn't want more if what I played wasn't good. I just wish they went the extra step, it still feels held back a bit.
So only a 9.8 this time.
Oh well, it had a good run
*cancels Galaxy preorder and goes back playing Disaster

How the hell did you know what score I was going to give it. Holy shit you are scary.
BTW you will love it so much, it may surpass Fedor.
So you're this cool red and blue plumber guy who jumps on lots of stuff and collects stars.
...
Yay!
...
Better?
Dvader said:GG where is your SMG2 music thread and why did you spoil yourself by listening to it all?
It was a blog and no one was commenting anyway so I deleted it. I haven't spoiled myself, I love the music and it pumps me up to play the game.
I found an alternative link Raven.

Here are my thoughts on the post 120 green stars. In case you dont know the game adds 120 green stars once you finish the game. There is one green star per main star, basically for the larger three star levels there are three stars hidden around the level. These stars aren't really hard to find as they make a loud noise when you are near them, also looking around will usually show you them (you will find a bunch as the opening level cinematic sweeps through the stage). Its not the finding that is hard, it's the how do you get them. They make you do all sorts of super crazy advanced jumping to get to some of these stars. Some are hidden in areas of the level I didn't know existed until I went searching, some of this stuff is as cool as finding something on top of a level like SMB3.
It's been a blast going back through the levels gathering up these stars, so much better than replaying the game again as Luigi. I got a few complaints though, for one not all stars are equal, a bunch of them are located right at the start of a level, you can get them in like 10 seconds. Some are located in genius locations and some are just out in the open lazy stars. I wish they allowed you to collect all the stars in the stage then exist but nope, every time you grab a star you exit the level and you have to enter all over again just to look for the next one. It is not like one star at a time appears, even if you choose to look for the first green star if you miss it you may find the second one, they are all out (unless it is one of the alternate versions of the level but not many worlds have this). So you find the first one usually really quickly, you do the whole exit thing that takes forever, reenter the level, look for the second, repeat, enter again and go for the third. Why not let me get them all in one go.I understand many require a leap of death to get, to fix this have it so you warp to the nearest checkpoint after you grab a star. Also why not add more, how hard could it have been to add stars to these levels, nothing in the level itself changed. They should have put like 5 hidden stars per stage and allow you to gather them all up in one run and then you need to complete the level, that's more Mario like.
Again my complaint here is that I want more which isn't really a complaint, its sort of a compliment. I can't wait to find out what opens up after I get all green stars.
But what happens when you... and it... I was like YES! Even though... I found it to be... Can't wait to unlock...

.....Sonic?
PLEASE GOD NO
Dvader said:Well I am almost done with the complete game, only 10 more stars to go.I don't want it to end.
What the game has a ending?!
9.7!
And still no sign of Sonic!
9.6!
Wait, I scored RE5 a 9.6, can't have that now
9.5!

I just want to say its totally worth it to see this game through to the end. I made it there but...
IT'S HARD AS HELL. I love it.
(very vague spoiler but just in case I will cover it up)
After you get 240 stars you unlock a level called the grandmaster level. It is a level that is made to test your skills to the limit. The first star takes you through the stage normally, its pretty long with all sorts of varied sections. I got through it rather easily after a few tries. Then there is the comet version of it that only unlocks after you put 9999 star bits in the bank, annoying. I finally did that and got the final comet star called The Perfect Run. No life, no checkpoints, just a straight up daredevil run of the grandmaster level and they make it harder than it was before. This is BRUTAL, I tried for almost hour and barely got past the midpoint. The game finally has given me a crazy challenge. I wanted more of this, ok well not to this extreme but levels as challenging as this grandmaster one is.
