Summer reading so far:
- Skagboys - Irvine Welsh
- Winter's Bone - Daniel Woodrell
- Less Than Zero - Bret Easton Ellis
- The Fault in our Stars - John Green
- Selected Stories - Anton Chekhov (re-read)
- The Wind in the Willows - Kenneth Grahame (re-read)

Chronology ... vaguely. There were times I had more than one going. I wouldn't put any of the others above Chekhov or Grahame in quality though Winter's Bone left a very big impression and I want to read more of that guy.

Those two being bottom was why I asked, heh.

Is it worth reading? I love the film but I've heard mixed stuff about the novel.

Yeah, it's definitely worth reading. I actually prefer the book to the film. It's a more serious story that goes into more detail about the characters and what happens to them on the island. The book can feel tedious at first, primarily due to the large list of characters, but as that list narrows, it becomes a lot more intense and interesting. Also, the violence if far more graphic than what is seen in the film.

That's usually the case with most books involving violence. I remember reading Hell House (The novel that was later adapted as The Legend Of Hell House) thinking "The movie is PG and it's still very scary, the book is probably as tame since it was adapted by the novel's writer" and then... lets just say there's tons of sexual content (Including a scene involving a corpse ), extremely graphic deaths and constant use of profanity.
I'll get a copy since Battle Royale 2 left me feeling dry and in need of something Battle Royale related.
I read I, Robot again. I was shocked this time around to see how disjointed it was, how it's really just a collection of short stories. I started reading Foundation again, but lost interest pretty fast.
I'm reading a very detailed auto biography of Mussolini. I'm up to his college years now. Pretty dry stuff. Learning, or remembering rather, more about Italian history. I have no idea why I am reading this. It's the one by Bosworth, if anyone cares.

My guess is that it's to make your headache worse?

Why were you shocked at I, Robot being a collection of short stories? That's what it's supposed to be isn't it?
I like Asimov though I don't read much Science Fiction. I read most of the robot books and three or four books in the Foundation Saga

Because I had a false memory of what it is from the last time I read it, about 15 years ago.
They pushed back the Dance with Dragons paperback to March 26, 2013. Sigh I guess I need to get the hardcover.
I started Crows and it is interesting, much slower of course. I like that we are getting to see new cities, totally new points of view.
Spoilers:
Cersei is the most interesting, now I know what it is like being inside the head of a psycho bitch. Kevan Lannister is my new favorite character, what he said to her SO GOOD. I will miss Tyrion a ton but it almost seems necessary to pull him out as the aftermath of what he did is so huge in scale. The book still has Arya so its alright.
I wonder how they will translate this book into a show, I doubt they can have a full season without their main character Tyrion. Also the sheer amount of new cast members and locations must make this novel a nightmare to translate.
travo said:Since season three will be two seasons, maybe they'll combine books 4 and 5 into one season. I wonder why they pushed the release date back? To coincide with season 3's premiere?
Possibly. Meh. Well I had to switch to hardcover books eventually as I would have gotten book 6 and 7 on release.
WTF??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!
Feast for Crows spoilersssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Davos is dead?!?!?!? Just like that, a quick off hand comment. FUCK!!! BOOOO!!!
travo said:I'd love to talk about that but it would be best if you kept reading.
You give me hope....
But now something else has come up, stupid whore bitch Cersei wants Bronn dead. She is on a quest to kill every awesome character. I hope her eventual death is the best death in the series.
^ I am hoping that HBO forces Martin to get to work and get these books out in the next few years.
