Game isn't Devil May Cry but it does have a ghost puppy that's cute as shit. Conflicted.

I'm on the final boss now.  Some thoughts so far: still not sold on the multiple story tower concept.  It would have been neat if there was more interaction between the different levels, other than that obnoxious cat passing through.  I'm also much more of a fan of the levels that make sense in the setting of a hotel than the more exotic ones like the temple or the castle.  Don't get me wrong, it's all very enjoyable, but I like to be able to peek out a window and see bits of the tower around me.  The Gooigi implementation is very good.  Overall it's a pretty easy game, although I'm having some troubles with the final boss now.  What's with the countdown timer?  It'd be cool if there was some animation where the painting absorbs the whole hotel, but when it hits zero you just die.  Pretty lame, especially for a Nintendo game.  Same with the animations in the lift.  They're repeated over and over, the developer could have gone out of their way to make them all at least a bit unique.  I guess that's the difference between 2nd and 1st party then.

The animation is very good too, very Aardman.

Yeah, the difficulty definitely spiked during the last two bosses.  I'm also not the biggest fan of each floor having multiple themes and prefer the levels that make sense for a hitel.  Maybe less floors, but bigger layout on each floor?

The size didn't bother me, although with some floors it could feel more like a boss rush game.  I also found that the rythm of searching for an elevator button and then reaching the next floor resulted in a psychological countdown effect, where it could end up feeling more like busywork than actually playing for the fun of seeing what's next.  Some games get critique for dragging on too long, I guess this is the reverse situation, where I would have preferred to not know how much game I had left and just enjoy the ride.

Well, the game's done.  I scored a B.  I didn't revisit area's looking for hidden gems or Boo's, but I did try to hover up as much treasure as I could.
