I wish I started grabbing pictures earlier. Things seemed even crazier in the prologue and chapter 1. But then again I might just be getting more acclimated to weird Japanese stuff... god I hope that's not the case. I want to still feel uncomfortable when I'm shown tentacle rape. Anyway here's some highlights from chapter 2 that feature a storyline about modeling, photography and demonic possession by mirages.
Our young heroine works up the confidence to let her inner model shine when she confront the photographer who has been possesed.
She is working it! And the possessed photographer is so impressed he is able to start fighting off the mirage that has him under control.
Still the mirage feels the need to slut-shame our young heroine for wearing too much make-up and gaudy clothing.
Our heroes prevail though, defeat the evil mirage, and allow the photographer to come back to his senses.
On a side note, this is Kiria, one of Japan's most successful idols. She also plays the role of a Fire Emblem wizard in this game. So naturally when you mix those together you get a young woman who has a staff that's actually a microphone with a bunny on it. Oh and she wears a patch over one eye (in this costume at any rate), though its purely decorative.
Here's the start of one of the side stories featuring your boss Miss Maiko. In this quest you need to find special ingredients to take care of her hangover. The lesson you learn in the storyline is that it's important for her to get fucked up at industry parties because she makes connections and impresses other industry people, and that's good for the company you work for.
This is Eleonora /Ellie. She's going to Hollywood one day. The game just introduced her as my next teammate, and I think she has the role of a Fire Emblem archer. At any rate she came during a modeling shoot but for some reason wears German Heidi clothing... She's also quite obnoxious. I think she also acts as the full of the shit character that you can't stand but eventually grow to like once she drops the fake attitude or something.
This is your buddy Touma, who plays the exact role of Junpei or Yoshike from the later Persona games if you're familiar with them. He's the FE Lancer and probably the most useful teammate so far. His dream is to be a hero actor and get a live-action role on a show like Power Rangers. It's odd. Anyway in his second side-story he gets a leading role without a mask, but he's worried about his confidence since the actor who normally does the role is a heartthrob.
So does he brush up on acting? Nope. He needs to get his mack on, and in this sidequest you play his wingman.
That means its time for a trip to Harajuku to meet women. Just like that Gwen Stefani song, right?
And it pays off! He becomes confident and then starts on his road to become a sex symbol.
I'm sure that this will be a great thread but I'll have to hold off from reading it until I play more of this game.
I'm with Archie on this one. I'd love reading about all this crazy stuff, but I'll love experiencing it first hand whenever I find the time to start the game more.
Then the both of you need to start playing the game so I can talk to someone about it dammit!!!
How about YOU get back into Monster Hunter and shelve TMS for a while? Then we can both play MH4U together and move onto TMS at a later date. I ain't going to change my true monster hunting ways because of some traitor to the cause who jumped ship for some Japanese jiggle.
Tokyo Mirrage Sessions is the best kind of dumb. It's so good lol
aspro said:Where do you get the game?
Bought it in a brick and mortar store, why?
As a fan of the SMT universe, I for one am thrilled that they finally gave Jack Frost his own chain of convenience stores. It was long overdue.
Also, just as a sidenote, the dungeons in the Persona games are often very dull and unimpressive. Definitely not so in this game. There's a lot of nice design that went into a lot of these.
Last week I finally got my hands on Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, and I love it. It may be just about the most over-the-top Japanese WTF game I've ever played. Sure there's stuff like Muscle March and Cho Aniki, but this is a special kind of Japanese weird because it actually tries to root itself in reality, though that reality is Japanese idol culture. And it's all presented with colors that you wouldn't see playing Splatoon on LSD. Anyway, after playing 8 hours of this and wondering what the hell is wrong with the entire nation of Japan, I've decided I need to start chronically the game. And thanks to the wonderful Miiverse I can take screenshots all day long. So, allow me to start showing off some of the more interesting moments of TMS#FE.
Excited? Me too.
