Okay, Elfenlied anime was pretty dark. The manga is different, but check it out......
I hear good thing about Berserk
Claymore is an awesome manga, with the greatest plot twist ever
Naruto has some very dark moments too. The character in my avatar and sig is killing characters left, right and center.
Never ever read or watch Bleach, seriously!

So I need a few nice manga recommendations thrown at me. I am currently reading Naoki Urazawa's Monster and thoroughly enjoying it. This is what you could say my first serious manga. I've read Love Hina and I's before, but they are not in the same league.
So, yeah. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Monster is great, I just finished it. Issue 1 of his 20th Century Boys is now available and so far so good, so I'd suggest that.
Deathnote is brilliant.
Old Boy is great. I'd go for that first. Tezuka's Buddha set is also good (though doesn't come close to the ones I have mentioned so far).
SteelAttack said:Dark mood, serious tone, the more rooted in reality the better. I bought Blood:The Last Vampire manga and was very unimpressed by it. Meh.
All of the stuff I mentioned fits this category. Deathnote is a little lighter. You'll love Old Boy.
