Viva Pinata is amazing. Love Viva Pinata.

I will let you know there is nothing you can possibly do or say that will ever make me hate you, only because of this post.

I have been playing Heroes of the Storm. One of my father's day gifts yesterday was a couple of Blizzard prepaid cards, which I used to pick up a starter pack on top of the retail one I bought. Starter packs are pretty good value especially when discounted. Game itself is quite fun to play, I'm Lv 26 right now and hoping to reach 30 soon so I can unlocked ranked matches. I have a small group of Steam friends I regularly play with, so maybe we will get to try hero league sometime soon. Game is not nearly as balanced as Dota 2 in regards to individual heroes IMO, but that's expected I guess.

lol dude, I was in college when that game came out, like my first semester. basically checked out on video games around that time. Figured already played Resident Evil 4 and Shadow of the Colossus, it's all downhill from here. Anyway bought Gears of War because that madworld commercial, saw Viva Pinata with the Rare logo and was like lol what is this shit? Looks corny as hell. A week later i saw it had positive buzz, and was like wtf? bought it, loved it, didn't touch Gears of War again for a month. Played a ton of Viva Pinata and COmpany of Heroes (with some Twilight Princess in between). That game is crack, and Trouble In Paradise while too samey, still fucking great.

For my time and money they are the best 2 games to come out of Rare once you strip away things like "well x had impact, and y game was more popular", because neither of those mean anything to me.

It was my GOTY of the year it was released. It's actually an amazing game.

I went back to Cities Skylines and The Sims 4 yesterday after a six week break from each. I'm having a lot of fun with both games again.  Happy

Perhaps consider a go of Prison Architect if you can get it cheap. As a simaholic, it fits the bill. (Which is what Donald Duck says about Daisy).

It released in 2013, on your own podcast you called The Last of Us game of the year. You have a recording of you saying this with your own voice.

Allow me to clarify.

Beyond Two Souls was the best game I played last year. My GOTY of last year was Jazzpunk (as per release date).

The best game I played in 2013 was Papers, Please, it was also released in that year. I probably, drunkenly, said TLOU was the GOTY for the soul reason that Lucas Pope was the only one who was making Papers, Please, which is like being on steroids (cheating), and that is was far more of an accomplishment to pull off TLOU given the number of people involved. Actually then, now I think abuot it, I guess TLOU was, at that tiem my GOTY (but I am also drunk now, so I have an out).

NOW... If I had to choose between TLOU and Beyond Two Souls for best game released in 2013, BTS wins.  I'll argue that all the way to the supreme court of podcast.

^I will try to translate.

He gave TLOU GOTY when we did the GOTY podcast for 2013 on a technicality, and now regrets that decision. Now that he has played Beyond recently, he is saying that Beyond was the best game released in 2013.

It's a David Cage joint. What did he suddenly hire a brand new writer? Because the making a good video game part is clearly out of the question.

To be clear.

BTS was the best game released in 2013. TLOU was also great, but second to TLOU. Papers, Please was an amazing accomplishment, and taken as a singular peice fo work is the best game of 2013, but given that it was made by a single person cannot be rated alongside accomplishments that require the co-operation fo hundreds of people.

2014 GOTY was Jazzpunk.

Because most writers, adn artists, only have one good story in them.

BTS was the compromise between what Cage has always done and commerical acceptibility, and his team pulled it off gracefully, just like my rentboy.

What have we said about the 'R' word Gagan? Your podcast has made it very clear that is not on the approved list.

I'm on Arkham City, when I beat this game in 2011 I didn't do any of the side quest, because I am of the opinion that sidequests are universally bullshift filler gameplay added to games to waste a players time or pad out the experience. Usually apologized for by people who are

-Compulsive with their video games and do whatever bullshit the game asks them to do (I don't, fuck you, make it entertaining, if it's not? fuck that)

-Enjoy boring things

Oh and I think this is when they were doing online pass bullshit and catwoman dlc, and I was like fuck that, i'm renting the game. So I did, and never played the catwoman stuff either

Anyway Chris said I shorted myself out on the experience so I'm giving the game one more go while Arkham Knight is busted on PC, and because 30 faps is gross. So Back to AC and some of these side missions.

1: The fact that the grapnel boost is tied to the AR challenges is a stupid design decision. Because why the fuck is something that makes the getting around the game world part enjoyable hidden behind this shit? Because it's not because the AR challenges are fun, for starters you barely use the grapnel boost during that challenge, and nothing about gliding as batman through rings is fun. It's contextually silly "batman is gonna go show off while the city is under siege", and at no point in a game about beating up low lifes and being all sneaky smart batman do I want to glide through hoops. Do that in a Superman game.

2: Narrative wise the Szazz stuff is cool as I never knew anything about the character and find it interesting that he and bruce have the same origin story. Racing to a telephone is kind of corny, but narrative wise I'm invested in that one.

3: The riddler puzzles are hit or miss, but the part where you have to free actual hostages works for me. In fact in general the part where I have to go save a civilian or two, and not a cop helps. One too many times I feel like I end up at a puzzle, and don't have the tool necessary to solve the puzzle that isn't that difficult to begin with.

4: The azazel stuff is kind of interesting, not sure if I want to be pixel hunting for his shit and the riddles.

Otherwise fairly early in the game, City's definitely mechanically superior to Asylum, and the game on hard mode was instantly more of a threat than Knight was. I felt like button mashing was getting me through Knight jsut fine in the early going, in City I actually had to be a bit more on my toes. A little op'd up now that I got some extra gear, combos, and because I've been ducking main mission stuff. Not a fan of the idea that you and Catwoman share the same skill pool, especially since now I have to progress as Catwoman too. Combat wise she's fine, if not as consistently smooth as Batman. Structure wise I've yet to play anything about this game that works for me as smoothly as Asylum, as I do feel you make more needless treks through the City, where as moving around the Asylum just felt more enjoyable.

Beyond that I'm not converted on the side missions, but I will admit that Arkham City has more effort into the narrative payoff with the side stuff in comparison to other open world games.
