I bought this on pirate tape when I was 11. Back when I didn't even know what piracy or copyrights was and I bought this purely on the strength of the cover. Don't think I even knew what hiphop was, I might have even thought this was a heavy metal album. Once I pressed play my life was never to be the same. I felt I grew at least two inches in size after listening to this tape (and I'm not talking about height).

I've actually been listening to "1999" a lot recently. It brings me back to yesterday. I could list so many albums, but I'll choose one and say "Ghost Reveries" by Opeth, which I first listened to in late 2007. It really brings me back to that time and then I wonder how it was almost eight years ago.

As my sig implies, I'm a big Iced Earth fan, but I've gone on hiatus from them for a while now. I've gone back and listened to a few tracks from their first albums here and there over the last couple of weeks, and each time it makes me wonder why I stopped listening to them. I'm going on a camping trip up north next week, and I plan on bringing all my Iced Earth CDs with me for the drive up. I imagine it'll be quite the mind trip. If I were to pick a specific album as my time machine, it would be this:
It personifies a time when my love for Spawn and power metal was probably at its strongest. Every time I listen to it, I also remember my first time experiencing the album in its entirety in a friend's basement as I indoctrinated him into loving Iced Earth as well.
Listen to Iced Earth and play Doom
I should listen to The Dark Saga some more. I'm still not really into it yet, but there's still a chance.
