Weird, I was just thinking in bed now that I wonder when there will be the first asian president.

Also, late night election coverage + caffeine preventing me from sleeping = completely bloodshot eyes looking like I'm stoned and not going to be able to stay awake in class today.

My fucking God I'm so pist off over people who are butthurt over Obama winning.

Examples:

About 5 minutes ago I was eating breakfast.

2 of what you could call your stereotype valley girl hot chicks were sitting talking.

"I'm so pist off that the election was based off race."

"Seriously the second Obama does something wrong he'll get shot."

"If he does something wrong we'll never get a black president again."

"I mean he keeps talking about change and all the young people voted for him. They don't even know what change he is going to bring. All he wants to do is take money from your parents and give it to lazy bums."

Last night after his presidency was announced a girl walked into a black kid's (who is an aquientence of mine) room.

"I hope you're happy that your nigger president won. He's going to get shot anyway."

And  low crime and free health care as well? Man I'm really starting to like this "Europe" thing.

Make no mistake, there is no such thing as free health care. You have to pay for it. Each month you have to pay a certain ammount. But it is still much preferable than you have in the States. And BTW Europe is not one country, each country has their own system. Well in Holland your bike will be stolen if you leave it alone for a second, but the violent crime is a lot less. Probably because guns are illegal.

I know I was trying to be funny. And yes but I'd much rather pay taxes (like I do with police and firefighters) then pay $120,000 so I don't die.

It's good that Obama won, but all the rejoicing is actually scaring me a bit. People are acting like he's some kind of savior for the United States, when all that's happened is that we've elected our first non-white president and unseated a party whose president screwed things up. When people have such great faith, they're likely to not think critically, which always leads to trouble. Hopefully they'll get a dose of reality soon enough to recognize that Obama is human, just like the rest of us, and doesn't have all the answers. Furthermore, he has to work with what will be pretty much the same Congress that Bush worked with. Even if he could bring change for the better across the board, his power is still restricted by Congress (which, remember, is generally a good thing).

Well this IS history. This is bigger then Jackie Robinson! Basically I guess people are just excited that for a change they are the ones who are in the ground breaking history instead of watching it in tapes during history class or black history month. Either way I think both you and I know how emotional and patriotic people get in this country.

That saying I do feel a little unease of how happy a share of black people are. I mean I kinda get (I say "kinda" because since I'm not black I never fully understand) the pride and joy, but at times to me it seems like "Is that the reason you voted for him?". Then again I'm sure that there are a share of white people who voted against Obama because of his race (such as I gave examples of before).

EDIT - Then again when you think about it it actually makes sense that he did win. People were ready for change as they grew tired of Bush's policies on war, econimics, and the like. Here's hoping that Obama continues the economic trend that Clinton left off.

Well some certainly have the money with all their tax-free casinos...........

..... nevermind, I was going to get extremely racist but I won't go there. Even though the stereotypes are true.

Speaking in Australian terms, it's about as likely as an aboriginal getting into office over there, times -10. You'll have an openly flamboyant gay as President before you get a native, I reckon.

The problem is he's willing to continue the wars.  While he's willing to withdraw from Iraq, it certainly won't be immediately.  Meanwhile, he fully supports the war in Afghanistan which has gone even worse.  As long as you're spending all your money at war, you're going to have a tough time finding a surplus.

Well then I'll at least consider him the lesser of the two evils.

I know that Iraq obviously won't be immediate. Wait do you mean that Afghan War is worse then Iraq War? (Not being sarcastic but truly curious)

Basically whereas some minimal progress has been made at times in Iraq, Afghanistan has just been getting worse and worse, including human rights violations.  Not that they aren't both complete disasters.
