There are more than enough reasons to prefer any platform, to be honest. Home consoles, PC, portables. They all have their own strenghts and weaknesses, as well as enough of a games library to cater to anyone's particular tastes. It's weird to have people justifying their personal preferences.

What I find odd, though, is how fervently discussed this tired point is when in fact, these exact same discussions were one of the things that led you away from mainstream gaming boards and to launch your very own site.

I think it can handle platformers at least as good as the Wii.

Yeah sure it can, in theory. But I have no time for such hypothetical situations. I see a console with Galaxy, Galaxy 2, NSMBWii, de Blob, Boy and his Blob, Icarian, Wario Land Shake, Lost Winds 1 and 2, Bit Trip Runner, Epic Mickey, de Virtual console (Snes does not work anymore) and the situation is quite clear.

Plus where are the lightgun games on the HD consoles (not my preferred genre but some people like them)? Or where in the shoot em up like Sin and Punishment 2 on the other consoles? Games like Endless Ocean or LKS (not even sure it what genre to put those two in), Rune Factory and more.

Or what about Metroid and Zelda like games? Trilogy, Twilight, etc.

But what I'm saying is, why would I WANT to play any of these games on the Wii, if I could be playing them on the PS3?

Obviously any great game that comes out on Wii I'm more than willing to play if that's the only place I CAN play it. But if I had my choice, I'd pick the PS3 every time.

I mean if Miyamoto came up to me and said "Well Edge, should we go ahead and make Zelda on Wii or the PS3?" obviously I would be insane to pick the Wii when Zelda on PS3 could offer anything Zelda on Wii could, and then some.

But according your own logic a Supercomputer would be the logical choice. There are more things than just power, the most important one being the budget. Some games will never be made for the PS3, but will on the DS. Why?! DS games are cheaper to develop.
