Only the portable versions, from home versions the biggest was on Wii, with about 1m (but also monthly online play fees on top). On PS2 it was at like half that. The series only exploded on PSP (and single handedly revived it) for whatever reason (mainly the portability I guess). This seems to be the biggest yet. Personally I'm waiting for 3G or 4, whatever is next, as I have little interest to replay the same monsters and their color variations (currently replaying their high rank versions anyway) and I don't like some of the new monsters and features introduced or cut. Although I might get it if it hits 9.99 on PSN like Freedom Unite is at now (I bought that at 20).

its shame that monster hunter will never be as loved over sea's as it is in japan the game is a wonderful series of pure awesomeness
Well the Wii version was the most popular in the West, selling roughly as much as the PS2 games did in Japan, so there's that. Of course it won't be as popular but it certainly more than justifies localisations if it keeps this up...

This is really THQ's new logo? Really? Is it April Fool's Day in some other country today? This looks ridiculous. Why the company would throw away all their branding they'd invested for this is just bizarre. If you didn't know it was THQ would you really be able to identify the H and the Q?
That is horrible.
Holy hell the 3DS is expensive in the UK. Uhhh that and the battery life are two very un-Nintendo like things,
no, the H looks like a greek λ (lambda) and the Q looks like an S witht he bottom bit missing
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
The H looks like a little chair and the Q looks like a backwards question mark.
Every piece of new news on 3DS is something bad, this isnt turning into the sure bet I thought it would be.
As far as the 3DS goes, I think it's all going to come down to the novelty of the tech and if that draws people. Once they start putting up display kiosks in stores and show off the 3-D effects that'll be the make or break moment. If it's that awe inspiring people will shell out the cash. I get why Nintendo is going against their traditional model, but until I see it for myself I don't know how wise of a move it will be. Could be good business or it could be what Sony needs to get a much stronger foothold into the marketplace (assuming they don't do the typical Sony moves).
Agreed. deBlob 2 is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.
that is bad and weird but its not as bad as when the scifi channel changed their name to syfy
Yeah, I'm definitely waiting on a 3DS remodel like the Ds Lite. I'm not paying as much for a handheld that I would pay for a home console.
Saint's Row, UFC, Red Faction are some of their stronger core IP's. I wonder if they'll do this for Homefront (the new FPS set in North Korea).
If GG was around he'd point out that the UK/EU always gets screwed with retail pricing as it compares to the US. The DSi currently sells in the UK for 112 GBP, which is $175 USD. In the US DSi's are $140 -- so there's $35 less -- that would put the 3DS at the $349 mark in the US -- okay that's still bad.
Here is a more hopeful example:
Wii bundle US = $180 (amazon)
Wii bundle UK = $280 (180 GBP at zaavi)
Isn't the lambda the forbidden dance?
Does your console come with a 3D screen?
And was the DSlite, DSi and DSiXL just as expensive or even more expensive then the models that preceded it?
And why are we jumping to conclusions already? The event on January 19th wil make thing clear. Wait for the info and then panic.
All true Iga, but Nintendo has trained us at this point to wait for the better version.
I got the DS at launch, and then there was a huge drought of games, by the time more games came around the DSLite came out with a much better screen (and a broken hinge).
I heard yesterday the reason they rushed the DS out was to curb piracy (they changed something in it), so maybe this time around they won't release the rennovated version as quickly as they did with the DS-> DSLite.
