In a nut-shell the unsung heroes of E3 2011 were:
^ Rayman Origins is a must-buy for me. Looks awesome!
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Tomb Raider yet. It's looks great, but the gameplay demo they showed at E3 just looked like a series of QTEs. That worries me.
Bioshock Infinite looks cool. That reminds me, I need to get Bioshock 2 soon.
No I wasn't in manhattan today. I am in long island, westbury. I am currently in an ancient theater. Its connected to this nice mall but the theater is one of those old non stadium seating theater. There are only like 8 screens. I have not been in a theater like this in years.
...
The latest Retronauts may be the worst gaming podcast I have ever listened to. They are usually assholes, but this episode all they do it bitch about prior E3's and speculate about this year's E3 (yeah they recorded this 2 weeks ago and released it yesterday).
I'm looking forward to Tomb Raider too. The more Uncharted clones the better. Turnabout is fair play.
FUCK. MICROSOFT.
My third 360 just red-ringed halfway through Psychonauts.
I'm going to have to look at my library and see how much I really want another 360.
Homer: Only certain NTSC games play on Aussie 360's right? I think I may have to import a 360 from the states.
My god, what piece of shit hardware. That sucks.
Yes. That mall is bad? You really need to visit our malls. Seemed like a really nice mall and it had like 3 gamestops within feet of each other. The theater there sucked though. 8 screens, no stadium seating, lol.
Green Lantern is ok, very average super hero movie. Good performances from Ryan Renolds and the chick. The villain was too over the top. And yes Green Lantern fights a giant yellow blob with a face. The action is ok but very cartoony, some of the effects kind of suck. I say Thor was better and Green Hornet was the better Green movie this year.
Thing is, I was playing it on my 360 because I am trying to keep my original XB's from dying. MS is not the problem, I am for continuing to buy their consoles.
Has there been a problem with original Xbox consoles dying? I never had a problem with my original Xbox. It worked like a charm for over four years. My sister bought her Xbox in 2003, and it still works fine to this day.
Xbox 360 fat consoles are absolute junk, though. Love my slim. If it breaks, I'll be hella pissed.
Both of my original Xboxes have the dreaded Thompson brand DVD drive. These were notoriously bad -- if you logged anytime on them at all they ultimately fail. The later drives where made by Phillips and Samsung and those had no problems at all.
One of mine barely works at all, the other one I am just nervpus about putting any hours on given the size of my unplayed XB library. I have 77 360 games, I think I've beaten about 20 of them... still not sure if I will re-up, mostly because I have to import it and I doubt having it shipped to my forwarder and then having it flown 9,000 miles and then driven to where I am will get me a 360 in much better shape than the brick currently sitting under my TV.
Donkey Kong GB is pretty cool game. Worth the money I say.
The latter 3 at least got massive hype.
Graphical innovation on PC does not mean better visuals but worse optimisation.

Member criticises PSN users and the action of new hacker group LulzSec
An unsurprisingly anonymous member of hacker community Anonymous has stated that the collective has stopped its attack on Sony.
Amazingly, the reason for the decision was what is described as the "selfish" reaction to the attacks on PSN.
"We are no longer attacking Sony, there is nothing more to gained right now from continued attacks except unpopularity," the source, called Anon, told VG247 in an interview.
"Our intention with our initial attacks on the PSN was that of a sit-in, preventing traffic to their service in order to protest their actions. We didn’t want to piss off the consumers as they were the ones whose rights we were campaigning for.
"Sony were removing true ownership of the console, as well as prosecuting hackers, and we were trying to spread this information to the consumers.
"Instead of listening or reading what our cause was they just became butthurt. Their annoyance is understandable, but their actions were selfish as they cared more about immediate pleasure receival than they did about their rights as a consumer (and the rights of the hacker)."
Anon also went on to attack fellow hacking group LulzSec for its recent attacks on the games industry.
"There is no support for Lulz Security’s actions of disrupting MMO’s ‘for the lulz’," Anon added.
"Anonymous, as a group, is about activism in defence of certain rights, and the lulz that can be had while doing this. This doesn’t follow or achieve this. Though, individual Anons are free to do what they want.""
This is hilarious. What do they think consumers are?
It's prolly the nicest mall on Long Island, if you're into malls... I prefer street front boutiques, mom and pop stores and privately owned shops. Long Island malls are full of stroller-pushing soccer-moms, bratty teens and brainwashed people aimlessly wandering around window-shopping for "STUFF." Blech!
Well I didn't watch the Green Lantern, but I did see Prince of Persia on Netflix tonight so I still managed to see a shitty movie tonight. God that was awful. . .
Definitely worth it for me, as it's been doubling as a Flashlight and time-passer for me this evening. I went out for an hour to read (The Hunger Games -- 85% done) and returned home to find no electricity for two more hours!
I LOVE that effin little game! It's true what they said in the Videos I posted: A lot of the moves first seen in Donkey Kong '94 were the pre-cursors for a lot of Mario's moves in 64!
So simple, yet so much fun, even to this day!
While that is true somewhat, Rayman wasn't really all that hyped until it was SEEN at the show, even after last year's showing! Tomb Raider and BioShock we all knew were coming, but are being universally praised for their incredibly high-quality (graphics, gameplay and story-telling)... and Hitman is REALLY grabbing attention too!
It's not that they're just good, they are stealing A LOT of attention from the games everyone thought would be the shoe-in, BIG titles of the show (Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, Batman and Skyrim, for example)...!
I've never even been interested in a Hitman game, until now!
...and I couldn't have cared less for a Tomb Raider reboot, too!
Now they are both pretty sure pre-buys for me!
