People have, and always will be arseholes. The internet doesn't have much to do with it. You could have been bombarded with hatemail in the past, chastised by your peers, be murdered by the critics and hounded by the press. It's probably easier to ignore crap posted on the internet about you, than if you're receiving it in your letterbox. Anyway, of course none of that's a good thing, but what was he expecting? There are people that are not going to like what you do, no matter what. Some of those people are going to be arseholes. You shouldn't have to deal with them, but the fact of the matter is that you will have to, with or without the internet, if you choose to make something to entertain people with.
People absolutely despise not being entertained.
Just read someone post this on another forum, got me thinking:
There are two kinds of gamers, and im not trying to be mean here, but there are two kinds. This extends across other things too, like movies, music etc.
The first kind meet their entertainment half way. They engage in the game, they explore the environment with eyes and actions. They let the sounds, music, feel etc etc create an experience for them.
The other kind just sit there with controller in hand going "its not doing anything".
Same thing happens with movies. Some people need to be lead right to water and their head dunked to find it. Others can watch a movie simply for what film cliches it avoids and be entertained by that alone. Or whatever. There are many variables.
So are you a gamer who can appreciate the "experience" or do you have to "do something"?
Can't say I don't not disagree.
What if the experience it creates is limp, and doesn't really do anything for you?
Are we talking about penises?
I think so.
Both. I let a game fully suck me in but if the game offers nothing back in return I won't enjoy it. I love exploration, I love nuance in gameplay, but give me something I can work with. But I am not one of these people that if the game isn't exactly what I wanted after 10 minutes I scream and complain.

I went to Best Buy...checked out their pre-order items.
Ended up going to the counter with a Halo 4 preorder and an ASS Creed 3 pre-order. Was going to order AC3 for the Wii U...but for some reason, even though it has a Wii U sku number on the back it wouldn't allow the girl to ring it up. So probably not many pre-orders for AC3 on thew Wii U yet.
I should have ordered Dishonored for PC while I was there...it comes with an oil lamp that you can plug into a USB port.
I'm pretty sure Vader is talking about penises...
And something else. There's only so much to explore in a penis.
