Travo, did you really go to Best Buy today, and were you looking for a U? I know things are tight at the moment, so I don't want to entice you into anything, but when I saw the story about the Miiverse creations, I immediately thought of you and can't WAIT to see what you'll do with it!
On my ps3 and am using the wiiu pad for internet. this feature is so cool.
GG those drawings are nothing, wait till you get on.
First third party pro controller that puts the sticks in the right place gets my money.
Capcom doesn't know how to make ps3 games, wow. the 360 version of dmc looks much better. But the ps3 version controls better. This sucks.
But you know what doesn't suck, using the wiiu while playing ps3 to post. it is possible to set up a game on another console and use the wii u as a webcam between players at the same time.
Wait...Black Ops 2 uses the gamepad in incredible ways? Where? Out of all the games I've played so far, BLOPS 2 uses the gamepad the LEAST out of them all! I actually started playing with the Pro pad, because all I was getting on the Gamepad was a pic of the box art.
That's cool that Devil May Cry is good...nice to see.
I am just totally hooked on Zombi U...this game is awesome and is definitely going down as one of my favorite launch games ever. If you don't count Twilight Princess as it was supposed to be a Gamecube game, this is the best launch game since Halo, hands down. Because not only is it a great game, but it takes advantage of what the system can do and sets the bar for everyone else. That's what a great launch game SHOULD do.
I had planned on playing a lot more this week, more Halo 4, more U games, etc...but I can't fucking stop playing this game.
Tonight I showed the U off to one of my friends who had not been keeping up on it and had no interest really....I gave him a tutorial of Zombi U and let him play with the Gamepad and he was totally impressed. His exact words were "Wow..this is not what I expected it to be like at all..this is fuckin' sweet." He was blown away at the way I was selecting weapons and items on the touchscreen so fast while the play on the bigscreen was unaffected. Pretty sure he's buying one now.
I just got to that part of Zombi U where that car is in the middle of the street with the British flag on it...that pic GG posted awhile back. This is easily the most graphically impressive area so far. Most of the game looks like mid-level 360 graphics, but this area looks gorgeous. The game is quite long too...I feared it would be short but its not. I so hope Ubisoft has greenlit a sequel with a big budget behind it...would love to see them make Zombi 2 push the console as hard graphically as it does gameplay-wise.
Also, allowing you and a friend to do co-op online would be incredible...Dvader and I could be tearin' it up.

Son of Sparta mode is still too easy, enemies sit around waiting to be hit. They telegraph their attacks in a way too obvious manner. The combo system is almost broken cause to get high ranks quick all you need to do is a perfect demon evade and you become powered up. No longer is it about having varied attacks, hell some enemies can only be hurt with one weapon. These new additions are not DMC like at all.
BTW im getting the PS3 version. i cant stand the 360 triggers. I rather enjoy playing the game rather that it be pretty.
Robio is so hooked on nintendoland. that is all he plays. Zombiu time for me
Well I hooked up my HDMI through the HTR tonight finally, so I'm getting PCM surround and I have to say it's quality. Assassins Creed 3 is so much better with PCM over DP logic II. With as much as you guys like Zombie Edge I have to try it now. F it I have wasted so much money on so many game. This game is getting as many rave reviews as crap. I have to play it for myself with the full PCM surround too!
net name: chibear.
Just watched the first few hours on Zombiu on Youtube. It looks pretty boring to be honest, and not even close to next gen graphics either. It looks like a 5/10 game for me.
Im watching this new Scribblenauts game now though and it looks really good.
I want to say "who watches people play games?" but clearly you do.
Well I will continue to enjoy PLAYING ZombiU, you keep watching it.
Tower of London section in ZombiU, wow! This game is a gem, excellent launch game. I wouldnt say its one of the best games of the year but it fills a niche that is rare today, a true survival horror game. I was down in sewers where I had to use the scanner to find hidden arrows guiding me. I fell through a hole so there was no way back, I was low on health and out of health items. Plus now I am in water meaning i cant access my backpack, only have a handgun and shotgun. I hear zombies but its dark and they hide in the water. Out of the corner I see one coming, he has a bomb straped to him!! AHHH, I shot but he got close so now I have almost no health. I see a bunch more on my radar, I have to go forward, I step into the darkness gun at the ready hoping I dont get hit. The game is that intense, so awesome.
My Wii U's Daily Log keeps track of the exact amount of time you have played each game, not just daily. If you click on the game's icon, it will give you the totals. So far, I have played 28 hours and 36 minutes of Zombi U...so its safe to say its not a short game. I've been taking my time, but still. And I aldo wouldn't have put 28 hours into any game if it was truly an average game.
You watched the first few hours? I would be bored watching ANY game that long.
Its not boring at all..its very tense and suspenseful like the great adventure games of 10 years ago before everything went all Hollywood and shit. Graphically could it have been better? Hell yes. But at the same time, it doesn't look BAD so does it really matter?
Wait until you get to the Nursery....oh my fucking word.
I started watching games a bit this year, I find it more interesting than watching TV a lot of times since there are only several shows I like and they take long breaks. It's awesome watching games on other systems you don't plan on getting, or games that you pass on but still want to check out. Especially if there is a fun group playing them with a live chat its good times. A lot of times I don't really want to play a game but wouldn't mind checking some out so its great entertainment to me.
Anyways yeah i'm not liking Zombiu even though I wanted to, i'm not a fan of the slow scanning or tromping around boring sewers with blechy graphics. Its not tense or exciting to me at all it looks like the epitome of a tedius game. The map being on the gamepad is annoying as fuck too. The guy playing would get killed now and then cause he would be looking at the map and get fucking killed out of nowhere, constantly looking down at the controller for scanning and looking at your map seemed like such a needless chore.
Scribblenauts looks like some fun but i'm not sure there is enough gameplay there that I would buy it. It was a fun game to watch for a while but the whole schtick of the game was starting to wear a bit thin after only a couple hours. Don't think i'd buy it but I can see the appeal, it looks ok.
I'll check out some mario next.
Also if you're loving these games-- awesome, just my impressions is all. I am a lot more harshl with my critique than most people are on games.
Your impressions and critique of a video, not a game.
A cool feature. I saw the japanese trailer and the guy flipped NSMB U to the gamepad and watched a football match on tv at the same time.
Can you U owners do a distance test for us of the wireless range? Measure it and try different rooms/floors etc?
I have not read the reviews but I assume they mean for the single player.
Critically it seems this game has turned the corner now and has many more good to great reviews than bad.
New reviews from Gametrailers and 1up didn't like it, C+ and a 6.something. Funny how a lot of the big U.S sites I used to rate 5 years ago don't like it. Other U.S Sites do like it. What's is the frame rate, 60 or 30?
Glad to hear your sound issues worked out.
I read that the fun of Scribblenauts mostly happens in your brain. You have fun imagining things to create and then marvel at their creation. I can think of some pretty fruity (not used in a gay slur context) stuff to create that would be fun to see on screen and see how it interacts with everything.
Just a further elaboration on this point, a lot of ground up Wii U games are 60 FPS, some ports are having troubles maintaining 30. Wonderful 101, Nano Assault Neo, Nintendoland, Pikmin 3, NSMB U, Scribblenauts, Rayman Legends. Yeah I know a few of those are 2D. Nintendoland can do 60 FPS on screen whilst also doing a separate 480p U pad image?
Even Batman which is said to run choppier on U is doing 720p + 480p to the U pad screen. Simply put, other consoles cannot do this at all because they are not powerful enough to render a second 480p stream of a different viewpoint. So you have to judge games in context.
Also eSHop devs are having more luck, for instance 360 game Puddle is running at 1080p 60 FPS on U, which they couldn't achieve on 360. Frozenbyte said the Goblin Menace in its current form would not run on 360/PS3, it does run on U and PC. If the U was so weak none of this would make any sense. Gearbox has had Demiurge apparently making Aliens ground up on U - I hear. I would like to hear more details on this, but they keep repeatedly telling us that they have no doubt that the U version will be the best looking version. Again, if U was so incapable this would not be happening.
Ports are having problems and those truly in the know understand why, if they haven't optimised the code properly there will be problems. As developers gain more experience, things should get better.
EDIT: Some interesting info here, background downloads affecting Zombi U's framerate. If reviewers were playing games and the U was downloading stuff in the background it may have affected the frame rate of the games they were reviewing which could explain some complaints.
In general though didn't reviewers start playing games before updates went live? This would work in two ways, the background download performance issue would not apply. But then it would be before the U was system updated and who knows if there were any code optimisations there to make things run better? Users have noted some problems but again, were background downloads happening at the time they noticed them?
"It also offers some touchscreen options in multiplayer that are sometimes useful, and completely optional to use. You can change your class without having to bring up the start screen, for instance, or call in Scorestreaks with on-screen buttons (less than ideal in an intense situation, but it is optional), or use the GamePad as your minimap regardless of what controller you’re using.
Moreover it’s built-in screen offers functionality that no other platform has. Namely, the ability to play any portion of the game via SecondScreen gameplay. Black Ops 2 occasionally drops in frame-rate no matter how you play it, but both regular and SecondScreen gameplay function well enough that I never felt at a disadvantage or that it took away from the fun, even when playing the super speedy online multiplayer. Even cooler, you can play online split-screen multiplayer without having to actually split your screens. You can still play with two people on the same TV, or, thanks to some brilliant designers, use the GamePad as your second player’s screen."
--C'mon, tell me that's not incredible!
