The controller charge life really is pathetically short...if you're playing a game all day on a lazy sunday or whatever you will need to charge it like 3 times. Luckily, I have an outlet close to where I sit so I just leave it plugged in. I also use the wired 360 controller exclusively these days. wireless is overrated. I think Nintendo should have just made the Gamepad completely non-wireless...its too high tech for a wireless device, hence the constant charging.
I agree, except the wire gets in the way when you do the pointless motion control crap.
This is true, but maybe a wire would encourage people to not design their games with pointless motion crap.
On Batman U regarding the frame rate remember the system is rendering 720p + 480p for the gamepad. Also the porters were having some code optimisation issues, a dev on GAF called Arkham briefly posted. He initially hated the system said it was weak CPU etc. Later his opinion improved on it a lot - he did say that porting across code is troublesome due to architecture and Application Programming Interface differences and that ground up games do not have these problems (he said he couldn't wait to see what others would do). Still in the gametrailers video comparison, it mostly looked the same to me outside a couple of glitches (N64 texture building!) but the cutscenes looked much better on U and GAF says the 360 used Bink video for it whilst U did them realtime.
What is with this BLOPS 2 criticism? I have read the posts on GAF, the U version runs at 60 FPS with dips to 50. The jaggy shadow pop in thing looks bad but so far (as far as I know) was only confirmed on the first level, as was the 30 FPS dip. It runs in native 720p - from what I heard (and this could be wrong) the other versions are still sub-HD upscaled to 720p. The video comparison shows it looks better on U, it's crisper and has more detail. You can pause the video at multiple points and see the difference. If I was bothered I could screen cap it. There were rocks, tanks, insides of helicopters, character models, gun models etc. all looking better.
I'm sure Digital Foundry will break games down in asinine detail but I think most of their articles will say that all versions outpeform each other in different areas. At the moment though after everything I have read (and that is a lot) it's not easy to just port across unoptimised code to U from a different architecture. Some say its okay, others have said otherwise. I want to see some ground up big budget games with a lengthy lead time. Zombi U was 100 staff, but low-medium budget and not prioritising graphics. If Gearbox are for real Aliens should look good.
I hope the later released U's have the 5GB patch built in or come with an update disc.
That would be half my monthly internet allowance (assuming I could even download a file of that size).
Damn MiiVerse is really cool when there are a bunch of people on. Some of the stuff these guys draw is incredible. I am beyond hooked on Nintendoland. It is like a crazy Nintendo themed arcade all about getting high scores in a wide variety of games. Nintendoland is the game to get, screw the rest.
Ok time to try ZombiU some more. I see you on Leo. Maybe I can see your dead body around.
Where do you see what others are playing? I saw a notification that you and Edge were online, but couldn't see what you were doing!
On the friends page on the Home menu.
I haven't played the campaign...but there's nothing wrong with Black Ops in multi-player or Zombies.
I really doubt it's 5GB. I think people were just estmating due to the time it took to download. As Nintyfan said in my topic, the time was probably MORE due to the sheer number of people downloading the patch at once, rather than the actual patch size. I am thinking it's more like a Gig. The patch size hasn't been confirmed anywhere, as far as I know.
Patch is between 1 and 2 gigs, not 5.
1UP Reviews Persona 4 Golden
I tell you, if the Vita had 2 more decent games that I wanted to play I would have become a Vita owner instead of a Wii U owner. I really really want that game. I'm just going to cross my fingers that Atlus will end up following the same path they did with Persona 3. They released an ehanced P3 port onto the PSP and then a year later they released the original on PSN. If I can at least get the original I'll be happy with that.
Cool. Not great but better.
Mrs wants a Vita. I don't (yet). MLB The Show and Gravity Daze are all I am interested in.
Gamingeek's Wii U impressions/comments>the rest of yours'. And he doesn't have the console.
I am in LOVE with ZombiU. I have put 4 hours into the game, only have died once and every second is tense as hell. This year if the game has zombies in it, just ignore the reviews cause reviewers have no clue. Every big encounter feels like a major moment cause you fear death in a way most action games you never do. The only aspect that is bad is the melee, super simplistic and boring, sadly many encounters have you just bopping the head of a zombie over and over. But when you get two or more zombies at once then you have to use your weapons wisely. To conserve ammo i would set up traps, I would lay a flare which attracts the zombies and then throw a grenade at the group. Or set a land mine and cause some noise to have them run right into it. Of course there is the last resort RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! This game feels like a zombie movie more than any I have played.
I love how the gamepad is used, perfect for survival horror item mangement. Every choice of your inventory is very important as time is precious when zombies attack. The scanning is really cool, the implications for interesting puzzles can be limitless though this game doesnt seem to have any puzzles. An old school RE game using this control method would be incredible. Capcom get to work.
Oh and then there is the community aspect, I love getting messages of edge dying and knowing his zombie is loose on my world. The message system is crap, you can only write in dumb symbols. No where near as interesting as Demons souls.
No that I have gotten past all the getting used to the hardware and menus, and am now just focusing on games I am really enjoying the system. Miiverse is really cool. I am still shocked at how good NintendoLand is. Seriuously guys, buy it even if you are not getting the platinum. It is worth full price.
