I need to get it but if I want to play it I will borrow it from my nephew.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
What did Revelations sell on the Wii U compared to other consoles?
Well Zombiu is a smaller game, they almost dont exist anymore. If they want 3rd party support it has to be the big budget games.
1. They are not pissing off anyone. Anyone who is serious about playing third party games has one of the other systems.
2. None of the big third party companies would miss a beat if Nintendo vanished from earth. Nintendo needs them more than they need Nintendo.
3. Yeah no big publisher really cares about innovation with controlers. They want to make money by pumping out sequels.
4. If the publishers made enough money from Wii U ports they would do it. They have the financial figures, they know what makes them money and no one is anti easy money. It may cost little but it takes time. They could spend $1 million to make some quick cell phone game or some small downloadable game which may make more money than a Wii U port.
5. What?
6. Well Nintendo owners already got to play it...
7. Well major japanese publishers are abandoning Wii U too. But Wii U has a bigger presence in Japan and there is loyalty or whatever over there.
8. ok
9. PS3 never sold as bad and it was PLAYSTATION. It would never fail.
10. And still sell like shit.
11. I am pretty sure they decided to abandon Wii U the second the console was shown to be another strange Nintendo experiment and not a modern console. The wii forced companies to make games for it cause it had so many users, wii u does not.
12. thats gaf
13. Look at 11. Nintendo kept going their own way, the publishers dont want to follow them and they now have no incentive to do so. This is not a new trend, ever since N64 Nintendo and third parties have been getting more and more distant.
14. Yeah if you do things right you can make a name for yourself on Wii U, most big publishers dont want to waste their time with that when they can easily make more money on the other systems.
15. Yes and that is why those are the only third party games Nintendo is getting.
It honestly hasn't bothered me at all. Did the Duracel batteries in Pikmin similarly bother you, or is this a Mario thing?
Its a mario thing. Seeing earth cars in mushroom kingdom. It just feels so wrong. Pikmin is about exploring earth, so you expect that stuff in there.
The original only implied that it took place on earth. It could have been any planet. It wasn't untill Pikmin2, when they added stuff like the Duracell battery and plant pots and such that it was made clear you were on earth. I kind of liked the ambiquity of the original where they were like "yeah, we're on earth... Or are we?". It added to the quirky charm.
I thought they were all set in Miyamoto's backyard.
If so I can believe he is starting to lose it. With the amount of junk he loses there he's bound to have some sort of old peoples mental condition. Oh, and he should really call some pest control.
Another reason to make Wii U games, Gamesindustry.biz said purchase intent has boosted post E3. It now sits as the same level as X1, i.e there are as many people looking to buy Wii U in the future as there are for Xbox One. And Aspros chart he posted a few days ago showed there were more people looking to pick up a Wii U by the end of the year, than any other system (including PS4). You could see large Holiday sales this year.
It also showed that PS4 + Wii U combo was the go to package this gen. Not X1 + Wii U, not X1 + PS4.
So you're going to have a lot of gamers with a Wii U with a relatively small base of games to choose from. Meaning your game could have a larger exposure there then on systems with a million other games.
While I'm all for more games on WiiU, I doubt the big publishers will be convinced by 'some charts' 'somewhere online'. Should the WiiU close the gap with the X1 and continue to sell at similar pace, devs might reconsider developing for the WiiU. And I say might because third party games never had that high attach rates on Nintendo consoles when compared to Sony or MS. Yes, it's embarrasing how publishers are not touching the WiiU, but it's called business logic and hard numbers. You can't fault them for not making games for the WiiU out of pure philantropism.
On the other hand, does it bother me that WiiU won't be getting the next Assassin's Creed? No, it does not. Nintendo themselves admitted long ago that they couldn't get enough software support to be the sole system people own. That's why, prior to the Wii launch, Iwata had this conference about being the best secondary console. If everyone who owns a Playstation or an Xbox choses a Nintendo console as a secondary option, in the end Nintendo could outsell both. Nintendo stopped caring about wooing big third parties long ago.
I don't remember this.
There were many other reasons, I posted, not just 'pure philantropism' that would be under "supporting a business partner". Are there no reasons you see as valid at all?
Gamesindustry.biz is a serious industry, business website which carried out the survey. They aren't just some random know nothing site online. They took a good segment of core gamers and measured purchase intent before and after e3. PS4 purchase intent actually dropped a bit.
MS and Sony already have sales comparable or surpassing Nintendo's, even without the year head start. Those numbers probably speak more to big game companies than any survey ever would.
Prolonged exposure to Robio would drive anyone mad.
Wii U support dried up before those consoles even launched.
And this talk of surveys is ignoring the 300%+ rise in sales in Wii U HW and SW in various territories in the world, those aren't imaginary. As Vader said, X1 NPD sales were almost at Wii U levels last month or the time before that or something. And X1 wont sell shit in Japan, where Nintendo will get thousands every week over 5 years. If purchase intent is now level with X1, it will be interesting to see where things go from here. But X1 isn't handicapped by receiving little to no games like U is.
Can someone please tell me why DVDs and Blu rays for the USA or Canadian market are stamped with that cheap, awful blue made in mexico print on the back cover? It's so ugly.
Well this time next year, maybe we will see X1's support dry up. Who knows? Remember, Nintendo had a year head start and have trailed behind. These big developers see this and see it as pointless to develop for. They also see MS and Sony with true next gen tech and want to develop for that.
its not going to happen but I think Nintendo needs to plunk down big money to woo some of these big exclusives. Of course that will be a big loss to them and it surely won't sell like they want. I guess it's wishful thinking on my part because there are a ton of games coming out on other systems that I'd much prefer to play on the gamepad.
I don't see this happening with X1 and PS4's architecture being so similar. It won't take a lot of effort to port the game over. What might happen however is that PS4 becomes the standard to which developers work, with the X1 receiving a quick port with some easy cutback and little to no optimalisation.
GG I don't know why you get so worked up over the Nintendo support song and dance. They will never get the support the other guys do so long as they don't rely on 3rd-party games & constantly demand to have different hardware.
And who fucking cares? I personally don't give a fuck anymore. Wii U is what it is, enjoy the Nintendo developed and Nintendo published games. You want the rest, grab a PS4 or build a PC.
Like with Resident Evil.....back in the Cube days I was all for Nintendo having the franchise because they had better hardware than PS2 which was comparable to Xbox. The games benefitted from being on that hardware. But in this era, even if (assuming Resident Evil was still a top level franchise) the series was on Wii U as well as the rest, why would I get it on the Wii U over the PS4? Is the Gamepad really going to be a game changer? I was going to get Revelations on the Wii U until I played the demo and found that the PS3 version actually looked better. So I got it on PS3. Same for the REmake...that would be a PS4 buy no matter what. I wouldn't get it on Wii U just because it was developed for a Nintendo console 12 years ago.
Another thing that actually does bother me on Nintendo consoles and influences my choice to buy elsewhere regardless of multi-platform status is that Nintendo doesn't have a Trophy/Achievement system. I'm not a huge trophy guy, but I do like having the feature...if for no other reason that it acts as kind of a timeline attatched to your account where you can go back and say "Oh wow...on this day 5 years ago I was playing X, and got this trophy".
Also, I wonder just how healthy Capcom is as a company...it was known a while ago that they only had something like 200 Million in the bank or some insane number like that....barely enough to even DEVELOP a new Resident Evil game. Its not a stretch to say the next RE could put them out of business if its not a major hit. This is the kind of company that its really not worth it for them to support Nintendo unless Nintendo is paying them handsomely.
